Default Tip for Firefox users

i'm relatively new to being conbverted to firefox..... here's a tip i got in one of my IT newsletters today... I tried it at work here, and it seems to have made a huge difference to performance.

Here's an excerpt from the article:

* Run Firefox? Have broadband? Here's Speed Tips

Here's something for broadband people that will really speed up
Firefox:

1.Type "aboutig" into the address bar and hit return.
Scroll down and look for the following entries:
network.http.pipelining
network.http.proxy.pipelining
network.http.pipelining.maxrequests
Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a
time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once,
which really speeds up page loading.

2. Alter the entries as follows:
Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true"
Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true"
Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30.
This means it will make 30 requests at once.

3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name
it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0". This
value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts
on information it receives. If you're using a broadband
connection you'll load pages MUCH faster now!

It also speeds up dial-up users as well, I just would not set the maxrequests as high as 30 though.

Hmm, stupid E-Bay isn't loading on my 'puter at the moment.
Seems like half the page isn't loading & I can't see pictures.
How do I clean the internet files and history like on explorer,
as I think this might be what the problem is.

for people who have done this:

I can't see any of the sponsor logo's/links on this page. There's not even a space where they should be. I have changed all the above settings previously, could that have possibly done it? can everyone else see em! what else could i be missing out on!!

-Stu

EDIT: They don't even come up in Internet explorer. must be a firewall issue then.

When I did this my computer had a problem loading pics, and b2tf had the same one. Mine went away when I reversed all the changes.
