Default I was wondering

I was wondering why manufacturers are forced to place the nutritional information pannel on things such as chocolate and lollies.

Why they usually contain little if any nutritional value. They do taste good so I don't care. More useless information I supose.

So people can make an informed choice. If you are health conscious, you may want to choose confectionary that is less fattening than others

Yes it is law because EVERYONE understands the monoglutodihedralthrobotron sulfate is better for you than polywantsacrackertrose nitrate and that 4mg of 321 123 & 456 is much worse than 5mg of 302 351 & 289.

It is actually law because if there is a law it requires a department to monitor it and that department requires staff and those staff will belong to one of the senior public vegetable's personal empires and cost money to maintain and as we all know:

The public vegetable who wastes the most money, WINS.......

Art for Art's sake.

I also like the warnings on my hot coffee warning me that the contents may be hot. Well I bloody well hope that it is because that is what I paid for.

I also liked the sign that subway had up for their satay subs warning that they contain peanuts.

Why don't we just have a big sign up saying that idiots that have no common sense shall not be served as they may sue you for fulfilling their request. Maybe all stores should just have a sign up saying please don't sue us for your own stupidity.

what about people with allergies. they might not be able to eat something with monoglutodihedralthrobotron sulfate. it might be handy for them to know whats in the food they are eating.

Yeh I know of a few Holden drivers who are allergic to 351, 302 and monobarrabossathien divaricammo turboxenate, these apparently cause hallucinations of the rear end of cars accellerating away......

Then why do subway have to warn you that a Satay chicken roll contains peanuts. If you are alergic to peanuts and didn't know that a satay has peanuts you aren't too bright.

Some people go out of their way to cause trouble.

Well there are other uses for shampoo.

Pantene is stolen regularly from supermarkets to be used in making drugs.
As is Sensodyne toothpaste.

I personally don't care about nutritional value of any food. I always ignore the labels. Same with smoking. A few words across the top of a cigarette packet doesn't mean much to someone who is addicted. It's only there to cover their ***** so people can't say they didn't know.

I remember some time ago there was a warning label on a toilet brush saying "Not to be used for oral hygeine" or something along those lines. If they didn't you'd bet there would be some idiot looking for a quick buck filing a law suit.

yeah ill admit stuff like thats a bit silly as is "may be hot" on a coffee cup etc, allthough when it comes to places like subway some might just assume that the "satay" sauce is artificial... lol.

you want to see some crazy s**t take a ride in an american built car. dead set this explorer i went in had so many stickers warning you of stuff one of the pics was a front shot of the car with it half on the road half on the dirt with its wheels turned towards the road with a bit cross through it... wtf? uummm k. i wont do that.

I was on a flight to brissy a few years back and had the little feed that they bring out mid flight, small sanga and a bag of nuts

On the bag of nuts (which was a ***** of a thing to open till I found the "open here" sign) there was a piece that said

"may contain traces of nuts"

Should bloody well hope so, otherwise I would of questioned what I was eating!

It needs to be there so you can tell exactly what you are eating. A moment's worth of research on teh intarwebs will often yield plenty of information about a given chemical present in your food.

And then there's people who are on diets. They may want to avoid consuming too much sodium or simple carbohydrates (refined sugar), etc...

Warnings about products containing nuts are there because some people have such a strong allergic reaction to nuts that they can die.

I have heard of a toddler dying in Child Care because he was given a peanut butter sandwich by one of the staff, even though his condition was known.

Heard about another case where a girl dying from kissing her boyfriend who had eaten nut products a few hours before.

The ingredients are listed by law, so you can see if a product contains something you or your child is allergic to. I know someone for which grocery shopping was almost a whole day event as one of her kids had A.D.D. and certain number food colourings and flavours (MSG) were no good for him.
