Insurance and car mods

Probably a topic that has been gone over and over but what are the good insurance companies that allow modifications to your car?

Im with Shannon Insurance. They will allow any legal mod but you do pay for the privilege.

Give Just Car Insurance & Shannons a go.
They are a lot more friendly to heavily modded cars.

I was with shannons and no problems with my last claim, the blower was declared but not engineered and they paid out without any issue.

Shannons are very good with claims. I've made both house and car claims and all were done with no fuss and to my satisfaction. But it's not cheap. The missus 14 yr old WRX cost around $900 to insure and my XR50 around $460.

My liberty is about that much also but for sake of less hassles I dont care. It's worth it. But the area I live in is considered 'higher risk'.

I'm younger so I get fisted by the insurance companies regardless,

Used to cost me $2500/year to insure my WS Fiesta when I was 18.

Its not too bad now, my LV Focus is around $1200/year for full comp with all mods listed.

Don't believe anything they 'say', it must be in writing and relevant to your cover, or it's worthless.

I found Lumely to be good, I have my XB ute insured for $285 for full cover for driving three times a week.

Shannons seems to be the go if you want to pay plenty of $$ for little cover, I think those saying Shannon is great, would be interesting to see how much premium you are paying in relation to what value.

I used to be with Shannons until they relentlessly increased premiums and dropped value, then when it came time for a claim they were a PITA, recommending sub standard repairers, car ended up two completely different shades of colour, ie front half of car was nice shiny paint and rear half was 30 year old paint, they did not even attempt to blend it in or even give it a buff and polish.

Eventually prompted to me to take the car off the road and pay for a full respray out of my own pocket

Anyway I get $35K cover for $207 including free windscreen and fixed $500 no claim bonus on my XB GS ute for limited use 1-2 drives per fortnight or $285 for three drives per week. Never asked about unlimited use as I don't drive that much with a company car and a family car.

Intercooler
Turbo upgrade
Turbo back exhaust

That's real bad to hear. I guess every company has it's good and bad reviews.

Shannons allows you to pick your own repairer which is what I've done with each car claim I've made. I picked a repairer that normally does Ferarris and Lambos. Couldn't fault their work. No questions asked, they even replaced the engine in my old WRX.

For car insurance I will only ever use one that allows you to pick your own repairer. My XR50 is with RACQ as Shannons was too dear. The WRX is only with Shannons due to the mods. My old WRX was also with Shannons and it was very modified.

When my house got broken into in 08, my rear door and shutters were destroyed. Shannons organised someone to come straight away to sort the rear door so the house could be locked. Then they replaced the whole lot with my choice of repairer. All the jewellery was paid out, playstation was replaced and 2 model cars I sourced replacements and they paid me back. So far (unfortunately) I've got my money's worth.

I'm with LSV (Lumley Special Vehicles) which allow modson cars 10+ years

You call their number and end up with a Coles agent whom isn't trained with LSV (they share same call centre) and then you are on good I for another 15mins

Rectification - rather shave my face stuff with a blunt cheese grater sprinkled with salt then to go through that fraken process again

Tried calling to change my address details during the morning and was told someone from LSV will call me back as they are in a team meeting, ALL of them

They called me back last week due to be filing out a survey and being honest
Since April is when I had ongoing issues due to accident and displeasure

Chic whom called said sorry blah blah and said they are working on the issues. When I said was 6 months ago and still happening, bit silent and she was

Would i recommend? No friken way
