Oh nice, is the magazine out?

Good effort by the XR8. Reckon the VF Series 2 SS with the LS3 will be hard to beat next year

Apparently it did a 12.86 quarter mile as well.

Good Lord, someone drove the XR8 that knows how to? Wonders will never cease! That Fezza is one amazing piece of kit.

I would have expected to see a higher speed than 183km/h over the quarter considering the car ran a 12.8

I guess the testing was done with standard tyres, it would be interesting to see how much the time (and km/h) improves by adding stickier rubber.

Its the other way around, 183km/h you would expect a lower ET
but it has street tyres not slicks
very good result

Those times are interesting, they seem to have managed to shave 3s a lap off their last review, I know it's not the same conditions or driver but that's really interesting.

As a reminder they last lapped the XR8 around Winton with the following times.
XR8 Auto
0-100 5.09
400m 13.15 @177.95km/h
80-120 2.78
Winton lap time = 1:44.7

Amazing what a good driver can get out of a car.

Warren Luff was the driver, equal 5th time with the Golf R.
I was very surprised as I used to have a GTP with the miami and the motor was brilliant but I wouldn't have expected it to stick with a Golf R on the track (added the FGX does get the RSpec running gear).
They did say the DSG wasn't holding gears properly but still a very surprising result.

Makes you wonder if Warren Luff is inexperienced driving 4wd turbos, and is more comfortable with RWD big hp sedans.

Also wonder what time the FGX XR8 would have got around Winton with Michelin PSuper Pilots and Warren Luff at the helm.

Anyway- bought the mag- dumb question, FGX XR8 got the fastest 1/4, fastest 80-120 time, and fastest Lap V Max. Whats Lap V Max????

I don't think he's inexperienced, I did driver training (Oran Park) with him many years ago and he was crazy fast.
I thought I was already fast having done numerous track days but racing drivers are on another level altogether.
The Golf R has 2 stage traction control, a push of the button makes it appear as though it is off but really it has gone into sport mode, holding it for 3 seconds turns it off completely, maybe it wasn't all the way off.
Either way it was a good read and that blown 5 litre overcame some of the cars short comings in other areas, good result for the XR8.

I'm sure from previous track tests I have seen, that even though the DSC in VW's has been switched off, it doesn't really switch it all the way off and will still interfere. I'm positive the Golf GTi does, and i'm sure the R does too. VW aren't the only ones who do it either.

Yeah that was true in the MK6 GTI's & R and also in the MK7 GTI's but MK7 R can be turned off completely by holding it down.
It was one of the big selling points for trackday warriors.
Then again VW aren't exactly the most truthful bunch
