Interestingly, the EcoBoost was intended to be the base model from the beginning. The V6 was included late in the product engineering to accommodate fleet and rental sales for the US market.

There's usually >6 months of forum posts from the native market and you can get a very close idea of what you want. Happened with the Toyota 86, similar deal for the Mustang. It's not a typical product - you know its going to be very good, with perhaps a few negatives (See: cup holder/handbrake saga), and this is because of the information available on the forums beforehand. In the Toyota 86's case, even though wait lists initially blew out to 18 months, i don't think anybody waited any longer than 12 months and supply quickly caught up with demand. That was for a single powertrain model. For the Stang, its the core group of fans (or even people genuinely interested in more exciting alternatives to what the Germans have to offer for the $$$) that have no issue in putting down the cash because it's a ridiculously good proposition: heritage, powertrain choices, refinement, some exclusivity (in Oz anyway...) How it all pans out in terms of sales is anyone's guess, maybe in late 2016 you might be able to do a 'walk in' purchase. But as they say, "If you're not first, you're last" haha |

And while it's a "proven" overseas model, as with most things I don't think i'd be among the first to rush out and buy the very first ones...standard logic is to always wait for "series 2" of anything when all the initial bugs are ironed out... |

It's not really, any car your waiting a year for is clearly very popular and has plenty of people waiting for one. It's in the new owners best interest to look after there trade in or otherwise they stand to lose more off the trade in. Future trade values are very easy to work out given that these dealerships do this every day of the week and usually ring 2 or 3 wholesalers to get there opinion on the cars future value. Don't forget some manufacturers do guaranteed buy back after 3 years which is a lot harder than working out 12 months. Usually a car that's also this popular will be sold at full retail with the trade valued on the lower end leaving the dealer plenty of room for minor problems

Waiting for series 2 of the 86 wasn't an option for me, and the series 1's didn't have any significant issues worth mentioning apart from a parcel shelf rattle which is standard appointment for modern Subaru's... Put it this way, all my friends said "Oh i wouldn't buy a series 1 anything". I did, never looked back, and every time i drive the darn thing it puts a huge smile on my face. I miss the V8 experience, and lo and behold, the Mustang comes along at a great price...so here we go again. |

I’ve bought many Series 1 cars over the years.
I always end up wishing I’d bought a Series 2. I've also bought Series 2 cars then wished I'd waited for a Series 3. How many times has an annoying fault been pasted down the series line? Many. You got to bite the bullet sometime or you'll always be waiting. |

SYNC3, blinkers in the hood vents etc are all USA spec items only available USDM. This is the same that goes for all of the options that are available in the USDM which overseas markets don't get. Overseas spec cars have been fitted with systems that can be supported in their respective markets, so it's only SYNC2 in Oz at this stage. It's actually a really good setup much more user friendly than many of the German setups. |

So not really MY16 at all. How many other differences are there between the MY15 and MY16? I see you only post in the Mustang and Focus threads, do you work for Ford?

For some reason a lot of people get stuck on this point so i'll try to clarify. It is MY16, because that's how the USA manufacturing system goes. There's an updated black paint, some stripes and a few other features, some of which have trickled into the Oz market as well. Some features, just are USDM only, and this stems from the fact that overseas cars are typically specced differently. For example the Europeans in RHD have started receiving their cars, which were pushed out just before the plant closed for MY16 changeover, so they get MY15 cars. Without a lot of the options the USDM got. Some features were announced on the Overseas cars before these were available MY16 in the US i.e. Verts will now have PP package in the US (big brakes, chassis bracing+updates, big wheels), this was mostly always the case for Oz cars (bar things like the strut brace). There's lots of little specifics. haha love the fact that you conducted a background check - if you must know, I have a lovely V8 ED Fairmont Ghia which i've had since 2005 so it's not my first foray into V8 Fords. Can't wait for the Stang! |

I believe, there are 2 versions coming down the Flat Rock lines. a) the North American version. b) the export version. to mix things around other than that, would be confusing on the assembly line. The export ones would be limited to what options are available, to make the spare parts shelves reasonable to stock for those countries. And the export ones would be built to specifications to suit most of the laws for vehicles of the export countries. It makes perfect business sense to me, If you want to americanise your stang, I am sure Ford would only be too happy to on$ell parts to you to fit to your Mustang. |

I have been following the RHD threads on Mustang6G forum also and can't remember whether it was on there or on here where someone suggested that they would shutdown the plant to convert the tools to RHD and only produce RHD Mustangs for a week before shutting down again to convert tools back to LHD for the MY16 model. If this was true then it would mean there was only a limited number of RHD drives to purchase each year, have you heard this also?

What you're describing would be terribly inefficient. There is a limited number of RHD per year, but its capped by the production capacity of 300 per month (at this stage). |

I know this is a little thing but they look like ****....really really bad and it ruins the rear end. WTF were they thinking.
Whats wrong with two red and one amber? Same goes for the GT86 rears lights...so poxy. They look like something from 1999. We dont need the fancy sequential system or what ever it is just nicer lenses.

I find them as offensive as wind turbines. Honestly it kills the look, hopefully there are some nice aftermarket LED's or something...they will make a mint.
