Years ago Dad was giving me a lift in the “family hack” LH Torana. We turn on to the freeway behind a tricked-out Commodore. Looks like one of the new Brock Commodores (after the split with Holden/HDT – post Group A. I think that it was an LM5000) thinks I.

Q. Who was in the passenger seat?
A. Peter Brock.

Q. Who was driving?
A. Bev Brock.

Q. Who had just been in the paper for losing their road licence for speeding?
A. Peter Brock.

Dad gunned the Torana and the little 2850cc Trimatic clawed it’s way up to it’s top speed (about 130kmh). Looking at PB you knew that he wanted to blow off this POS that was beside him and we knew that the only driver in the family with a licence was Bev (who was only game to do 125). We caught and passed the Brockadore laughing our a**es off at PB’s pained expression when we went by.

Years later we sold the Torana as able to pass a Brockodore in a straight line (with Brock driving).
