Speed Cameras Geelong HWY

These cameras are due to be switched on January 30. There are 4 each way between Geelong and Melbourne. They have started placing portable signs that say "Camera's Cut Crashes". Who are they trying to fool. Since the road has been upgraded it is now one of the safest roads in Victoria, especially if you consider the amount of traffic that it handles. The Government has used statistics from the last 10 years to justify the cameras, but since the upgrade 2 years ago the fatalities have dropped massively to next to none. In the meantime the other highways out of Geelong to Ballarat and Colac have seen the fatalities skyrocket in the last few years. Why aren't the cameras being placed on the more dangerous roads, the amount of traffic flow and potential fine victims is reduced, so can't rake in as much revenue. Really goes to show the real reason for speed cameras, and its not to save lives. Whens it going to end. Its about time we changed the slogan on the rego plates to Victoria-The Police State.

So are they Indeed Time over distance cameras? Or just normal. I would like to be sure becasue I go back to uni in Geelong in March and want to know if I can never even venture the slightest over the ton before these revenue cameras book me.

They are just the normal fixed speed camera's revenue for the Bloody Brack's Government.

Yes, just normal cameras, but they have made it so you can booked on every one you pass, so getting done 4 times in a row is a possibility.

Those signs have two resons for display.

They justify (to the dipsh1t) why cameras are installed
They show people (similar dipsh1t) that the gov are trying to save lives.

Obviously the Vic Gov think the average road user is a dipsh1t! If this is true, then they are targeting the wrong type of driver!! _

I noticed some more fixed camera's being hooked up today (or switched on) on the newly opened section of the Craigieburn bypass

Stupid.... there was nearly an accident as the fools in front slammed there brakes on, presumable to slow down from the mind-numbing speed of 110km/hr to get down to 100 and avoid being pinged for being 3 or 4 km/hr over

Yep, distance over time camera's. There are sensors in the road so meters apart. Makes it hard to contest the fine, as they are far more accurate then radar.

thats true they check the speed over a metre or so by timing it. They also have the radar as a double check.

I believe they are not average speed camera's though. That is not averaging over 10km or whatever.

Wont slow me down at all :-) Apart from using my brakes at each camera.....

I had some plans for if they were average speed cameras too :-) That was to go off the offramp, and back on. I could do this and still keep up to the cars doing 90-100ish. 3 out of the 4 could be avoided on the way to geelong, which is perfect, but only 2 out of 4 can be avoided on the way to melboune.

Anyway, now all we have to do is slow down...easy.

There is one reason and only one reason that these cameras have been placed on the Geelong Road and it is

MONEY!!!!!!

Nothing but revenue raising. Just like all the fines police etc issue which are now indexed to go up with inflation................
