Default Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetic 2 - Tyre Bargain of the Year ?

Just wanted to give you guys a heads-up there's something really, really good happening with the prices on these tyres.

Many of you will know these tyres are rated top notch and have done extremly well in the Motor magazine tyre comparison tests.

Here's how they performed in a 2013 Euro comparison tyre test
http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Article...-Tyre-Test.htm

Note the good wear rating, the great dry and wet performance and that they outperformed the Michelin Pilot Sport 3's.

Was talking with another member on here and there's some amazing deals on these tyres at the minute in Australia.

I just scored a set of 4 x 245/35/19's here for $999 Kiwi $1,049 Kiwi incl fitting and balancing http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/List...x?id=622213698
Another member on here scored a set in Australia for an equally stunning price. I can scarely believe the price I scored these for

This is simply off the charts value for money for a super high performance tyre compared to anything else I've seen on the Kiwi market.

Now what to do with the remaining 2.5 mm's left on my Dunlops...let me think.... I know

No mate, thanks for your help but those tyres you were quoted an equally amazing price were the Goodyear Eagle F1 Directional 5 tyres, still a very good tyre but not in the same league as the super sticky puppies I just bought. Added a link to the auction i just won.

I just don't know how they can sell a tyre that good for that money

Another review. Note these overall out-perform Michelin Pilot Super Sports, tyres that I was quoted at three times the price !!!! Just over $3,000 for a set
(Super sports are a dry weather optimized tyre)

P.S. Note these Goodyear tyres significantly out-performed everything else in the wet.

They are on my ST I have nothing bad to say about them yet after 6000kms. Wet grip is awesome though.

Just check to be sure you got the Assym 2. The picture on the listing is for the A1. Could be just an error and they were lazy with the pic but check just in case. A1 is still a good tyre regardless.

You were getting ripped on the PSS quotes. From tirerack I've had them for 1600-1700 aud, after exchange rates, shipping, gst and stamp duty.

But the as2 are top notch too, slightly better in the wet but not as good in the dry. Considering I baby it in the wet anyway then I'm happy to be slightly down on wet to have the dry performance of the PSS.

Either way that's about 250-300 saving off each tyre! So yeah well done still.

Yeah mate I was being ripped on the Michelin quote and knew it. As you've noted there's no question PSS are the benchmark in the dry but its horses for courses and in N.Z. it rains so much I'm happy to trade a slight reduction in dry performance for benchmark wet weather performance.
They don't call it the land of the long white cloud for nothing

I got D5's fitted to my XR5 a few months ago for about $700 during a "4 for 3" deal. I know they arent at the same level as the A2, but dam they are good, especially in the wet!

No worries Jim.

In my original post click on the link to the auction I won, then part of the add at the bottom that reads "About the Seller" click on "sellers other listings" and there's some bloody intersting wheels in there.

More than happy to organise something for you on this side of the Tasman if anything grabs your fancy mate.
