Just been reading all the bad luck stories on here and I really sympathise with everyone here.

I was in the same predicament nearly 2 years ago when I got the call to say that I had won the Unique Cars FREEHO (XYGTHO Tribute car)

After discussing options with the staff at Unique Cars it was decided that i would go halfs in transport costs from Melbourne To Perth, as I didn't feel comfortable using CEVA/TNT/VIP.

We ended up using Alan's car Carrying which cost a motza ($4500) but it gave us total peace of mind and was delivered from literally door to door.

Actually, FREEHO was accompanied by a Ferrari and an Aston Martin being delivered to prestige Perth dealer Barbagallo's yard after my delivery, so you can see that we were dealing with a very reputable car transporter.

The old saying is "you get what you pay for", so in this instance we did.

I know it's too late for alot of other people out there who have been let down terribly, but I can honestly recommend Alan's Car Carrying services as one of the few decent car transport companies.

Cheers Colin

Damn I wish I read this 2 months ago....

Unfortunately I used CEVA. Will update again once I get some type of outcome, but so far my move hasn't gone exactly to plan - nor was it worth my while paying extra for the 'RAPT' service.

Incompetence is the first thing that comes to mind when I think of this company

I'm currently using Toll to transport a car from NSW to Perth and will know of the quality when the car arrives in a week. Fingers crossed.

IMHO at Rocky take the Burnett highway through Mt. Morgan, Biloela, Monto, Gayndah then connect onto the Wide Bay highway to Gympie. I went through Tansey to Kilkivan to do this which has some sections of single lane Bitumen, you can go the bit extra on better road to go from Gayndah to Goomeri to connect onto the Wide Bay highway.
I have done that run a couple of times this year, yes it is a bit longer, but there is hardly any traffic, roadworks and when I compared this recently by going south on the Burnett and returned on the Bruce, the Burnett was 40 minutes quicker!
The Burnett is not the smoothest of roads but neither is the roadworks on the Bruce.
My most recent trip about a month ago I counted 40 minutes of stoppages at 8 Roadwork sites between Miriam Vale and Rockhampton!
Remember, please be patient, if you do not want to be late, plan to leave earlier.

Last year I bought a rolling shell XY Falcon from interstate and as the body had been restored I needed a specialised car carrier to deliver it to Melbourne at which time I would pick the car up and bring it home. Having not used a specialised carrier before, but seeing V.I.P's advertising everywhere I assumed they were the people to use. Their advertising suggests that cars are transported in fully enclosed VIP transporters, fully insured against any damage whatsoever and constantly monitored by trained professionals. I decided it was worth paying three times the price of a conventional carrier to ensure this car arrived safely.

Bear in mind this is exactly the same service that would have been provided for a phase 3.

I got a phone call late on a saturday morning to let me know the car had arrived in Melbourne. I advised that I couldnt get there until monday and asked if the car would be safe and secure over the weekend to which they assured me it would. I arrived Monday to find the car outside on a dirt hardstand area in a commercial transport depot in Dandenong, on full view to the main road and collecting all the dust and dirt thrown in the air by the other trucks coming and going 24/7. Upon inspecting the car it had been damaged, paint was scratched and chipped on the guards and the bonnet, and the guards were also marked from a strap that had been used to tie down the front of the car. I advised the depot manager, who was not aware of any damage and asked for the condition report. "The what" he said! As there was no sign of VIP in this depot I loaded up the car as quick as I could, pulled out of the yard and rang VIP. Initially they were quite helpful and it looked like I was going to be taken care of. By the time I got home however there was an email waiting for me that claimed no responsibility due to the damage being as a result of a poor quality restoration.

Upon further investigation I found that VIP did not transport the car at all. They subcontracted it out to a conventional carrier that transported the car in an open normal transporter. The subcontracted carrier was not interested in hearing about a claim at all and VIP's insurance wouldnt cover it because they didnt carry it. After getting nowhere with VIP I contacted consumer affairs. Consumer affairs contacted VIP who stated they had no record of dealing with me and suggested I may have dealt with "Pitstop Automotive", another of their companies but one that was now in liquidation, leaving me nowhere to go and a repair bill of $1400.00.

Now I am sure there are others out there that have used these guys with no hassle at all but be warned, if you do have problems, this is the level of service you may well get for your money.
Just had a TS50 transported down from Queensland by them. Left in showroom nick, arrived covered in crap. Couldn't see out the windscreen. Bird droppings, the works. Not happy.

I'm guessing that you wanted them to wash the car before giving it to you ?

No. I thought it was coming down in a enclosed trailer. My mistake obviously. I just didn't expect it to look like it did. I've let them know.

i have personally used allans twice and although expensive its as worry free as such an experience can be. moved a car from melb to adelaide and later a car from perth to adelaide. from a capital city view point wa as a whole is hard as not many things regularly go there. so although allans are as safe as houses fully enclosed very clean trailers (you can eat off thier floors) the issue is getting the car back as the truck needs to go there first. i may need to explore the perth issue again soon and all my contacts cannot recommend a reputable enclosed car carrier from there. i WOULD NOT USE TNT OR CEVA TO TRANSPORT HORSE **** to be honest. i too have had a bad experience with them...once bitten twice shy boys n girls

Jeez, some horror stories here

Glad I have a personal friend (Charles Classic Car Cartage) who transports all over the country. I know where he lives, I share a cuppa when he collects and drops and he treats it like his own.

Mate needed a urgent job and Charles couldn't do it, he said ONLY company he would recommend was Allans
