Default Question for those who are from Melbourne

Hey Ppl,

Hope its not too dumb a question but I'm dying to know where the Club "Bojangles" (of Chopper fame, or infamy) used to be. I understand it was round the ole Sea Bath area in St K but do any of you know exatcly what building it was in Particular and where it was near in terms of Palais and Luna park and Twister. Pics would be good if anyone can find em.

I've been looking all over the net, and all I could find was a refernce to its violence and how it was near the sea baths, but its doing my head in trying to work out exactly what building it was and where??

Any help appreciated.
-Danny

I'm pretty sure it was almost where the sea baths are now, it was knocked down years ago.

Please correct me if I'm incorrect

I thought it was where Les Girls used to be, I doubt many would even remember that building.

I reckon it was re-named from Whisky-a-go-go to Bojangles? and right next door to Les girls at the front of the Sea baths (Lower Esplanade)

LuvinmyEB.. You were spot on...

The Les Girls All Male Revue started life in the back room at the Ritz Hotel in St Kilda. Those first phenomenal years inspired the promoters and soon they were moving to larger premises in the Upper Esplanade in St Kilda - to a nightclub called Olivia's, next to the St Moritz skating rink. Now the suburban crowds could really be packed in. But all good things come to an end. Another move to Bojangles - known as BangLand - down on the foreshore became the last retreat for the by now tired formula of free office party tickets for the show, with the margins on the drink prices to make the profit.

Eventually a more and more sophisticated crowd tired of the 1960's glamour of the Les Girls shows and Bojangles closed its doors.

Something that may be of some interest to fans of the Chopper movie. Keith George Foure, known in the movie as Keithy George (who wasn't mudered by Chopper as portrayed in the movie) is now currently on trial for murder relating to the Melbourne gangland killing of Lewis Caine. His bodyguard Ange Goussis shot him in the head and they are both now claiming it was self defence after initially denying knowledge of the incident. Seems crime stays in the blood.
