Cool Unmarked speed cameras

Well I saw my first one to day
it was a grey Volkswagen Polo (I think)
on Inala ave or should that be chinala ave
it was sitting near a school and had a large
spotlight under the rear bumper
it didnt take long to introduce the under cover speed cameras
Also I hear that people are ignoring the Clem tunnel
now that you have to pay to use it
John

Yes there were two types, 4wds (patrol, pajero, landcruiser) with Police stickers and camera unit/speed enforcement on the side, or merc vans with same markings, then they went to unmarked but of the same models, so still stood out. Now they've gone completely u/c, VZ utes, Golfs, Rodeo utes..

It is an interesting story

The original Idea of these cameras were to be
visual and therefore make drivers aware and slow down
and If they remained unaware they would be booked for
speeding.

The focus was on slowing down drivers and awareness

Now it is about booking drivers for revenue

Now if you get booked you still don't slow down
because you dont know you have been booked until
the bill arrives in the mail

That Is such a big help in slowing down drivers

Of course the secondary issue that happens for
people who just continue to speed is that they then
drive without a licence anyway

Gee this system works well !!!!!

Yep... the clem 7 tunnel will go broke within 6 months, they should reduce the tolls and increase use.

On the speed camera's, here we go again. Was the last three threads not enough?

On the tunnel, why pay that much when it is actually no quicker than going the ICB during middle of the day traffic (yes I timed it while it was free).

What a complete waste of money?

I saw a Rodeo this morning in Mitchelton on Samford Rd. 2 lanes in either direction to the curb. The Rodeo was parked next to the curb taking up one outbound lane. There an unmarked aurion/camry thing behind it having a chat.

Was white commodore ute with white tinted canopy at Indooroopilly today in the usual marked van spot on the traffic island directly across from the station. Had small numbers-letters handwritten in white paint pen in top corner of the side canopy windows.

I just don't get it... The second biggest cause of accidents is "driver inattention".

I've gotta say that I am inattentative nowadays.

I'm constantly looking for bloody hidden cameras. :

Right-on, I have seen many a driver, pull a dangerous emergency brake, even though I have been travelling the correct distance behind them, & keeping with their speed (which is at or just under the limit), because they have just seen the camera. People are just SO paranoid about getting a ticket that they dangerously (& needlessly) brake & almost cause accidents. Even though they werent doing anything wrong.

To me THATS more dangerous than speeding.
