1 xc v8 twinheadlight gxl complete.
1 6cly xc fairmont comlete.
1 6cly xb complete.
2 zg failanes, one had no running gear .
1 xl ute had 6cly no front gaurds.
xt wagon complete and hz ,hqs, lj and the list contiues and all in the last 6 months and these are only the ones i have seen. The local dealer will not part with nothing and tries to crush things quickly to avoid interest. Also tied following a flat bed truck with a near complete xa/b coupe on the rear with the crane sitting on the squashed roof, but lost in traffic, grr . Any one else seen anything the same.........

Im not sure id classify any of those as "classics".. Ive heard of GT's and GTS's getting crushed many years ago.. doubt it would happen today though.

I pass a large crusher/recycler every day. I always try and spot something in there of interest. Last two I saw were a HX GTS in 2000, and a XY Fairmont sedan with all chrome moulds intact in 2003.

the only advantage to this is ,that it makes the remaining cars of your favorite type more valuable an example is a complete two door Chrysler Hard top ('71 to'72)getting consigned to the crusher and me with no money to save it ,they(Chrysler) only made 510 of these,
when did you last see one of these going? :

When I was doing the V8 conversion on my XT I pre-arranged for a scrapper to take away the donor car. He dropped in a couple of times whilst I was doing the conversion and on one occassion had an XC GXL 5.8 on the back. Bugger all rust, clean, and straight. He said take anything I want off it as it's being crushed in the morning. If I wasn't 1000kms from home would have taken the whole car.

Just an aside to this i don't remember GXLs having twin headlights they h ad large rectangular headlights but i had a GS 351 power pack and they had headlights and driving lights . Having said that many were swaped in their day for the quad lamp system as the rectangular lights were expensive to replace and didn't look as good. I still have the 1977 brochure with all the Ford range in it complete with all the options and price of the vehicle i purchased.
Cheers

I quite often see cars crushed into cubes on the backs of trucks heading for the recyclers. I try to guess what they were, but then give up just in case it may have been something desireable........

There's a scrappy yard across the road from my Dads shop, and he's usually on the lookout for old tractors and donks etc.

back from about 2001-2003, my local wreckers sent off countless XM's-XY's to be crushed. they were not desirable like they are now. still hurt to see them being sent off

Some of these cars are so beyond repair with rust etc. that some people prefer to crush them than try to repair them.

i think some people need to look at the trouble English folk go though just to resurrect cars..
some of the Escorts we crush here due to 'too much rust' they would consider minor repairs!

Sorry GT450 might have ben a fairmont (twin lights) . I remember talking to a major wrecker in melbourne who had landaus come in and they had running gear removed then the rest sent to scrap. One of my old work mates front ended his xt gt and that went to scrap and a gossy that had a small smack up the back had bolt ons and running gear removed and is now land fill but that was back in the day !

I've sent an XB Coupe off to the crusher a few years ago.

It was a sad thing to do, but it was perhaps the rustiest car I have ever seen (including gaping holes in the roof and quarter).

Most likely not but it’s getting harder to come across Falcons up to XD. Cortina’s and early Commodores at the Pick Parts in Melbourne where a few years back they were in plague proportions like VN-VR commodores and EA-EF fords are now.

3 years ago i was discussing a basket case XB GS hardtop that was advertised for $15k with the ex wife of the guy who used to run the local wreckers

"god..... and to think of all the ones we've put through the crusher over the years"

also in Central Queensland, there was a wrecking yard that for a long time had a row of hardtops stretching pretty much the length of the block side by side..... all went to the crusher when the owner died and the family sold the land
