Default Fpv Celebrates Five Years In Power

http://www.fpv.com.au/news/press-rel...t.aspx?ID=3214

Ford Performance Vehicles this year celebrates its 5th anniversary of production, and to mark this auspicious occasion, FPV has announced that they will build a special commemorative model which will be revealed at next month's Australian International Motor Show.

FPV General Manager, Rod Barrett was coy on revealing too many details, but promised FPV enthusiasts that this vehicle would be a great collector's vehicle following on from last year's 40th Anniversary GT and Cobra.

While five years may seem embryonic in the automotive realm, FPV's heritage can be traced way back to the golden years of Australian motorsport when the GT legend was born.

The FPV GT was launched in 2003 and marked the beginning of a new era in performance motoring, bringing with it fond memories 1967 when the XR GT won the foreboding Bathurst 1000.

"FPV has established itself in the Australian performance market in such a short time," said Rod Barrett.

"When we first launched FPV the brand revolved around the iconic status of the GT, now FPV has grown in only five short years to include two families - the GT and the F6, available in sedan, Ute and SUV models."

In fact, the FPV F6 has become one of Australia's most lauded performance vehicles, with the original 270kW F6 Typhoon winning Motor Magazine's Performance Car of the Year in 2006.

Top Gear Australia recently labelled the new FPV F6 as "Quite simply the best sports sedan on sale in the world today under a hundred grand."

Motor Magazine heralded the new FPV F6 as not only "the company's best car by some margin, it's also quite possibly the greatest performance car Australia has ever produced."

"It's quite humbling that the F6 is receiving such quotes from leading Australian publications, these guys are comparing our car to legends like the GT HO and that's just amazing for our brand," said Barrett.

FPV as it's known today was formed following the acquisition of the Tickford group of companies by UK-based Prodrive, one of the world's leading motorsport and automotive engineering companies.

FPV is now one of the largest performance vehicle brands in Australia and the latest range of Ford Performance Vehicles are more desirable than ever.

"The vehicle we're launching at the Australian International Motor Show will be representative of the five years since the first FPV came down the line, it's a limited edition model and sure to be a winner with our enthusiasts," said Barrett.

"There has been much speculation about where FPV will head next, the GT HO is always on the radar, however, it would depend on whether a business case could be achieved and whether there would be market demand when we are ready to release it," added Barrett.

"Whether or not we move into the small car market is something we will look at once the Focus is produced here in Australia, of course it is always an option for the future."

The new FG models mark an exciting era in performance motoring, and for the first time, every new FPV model will carry unique FPV badging.

"Owning an FPV is no longer about whether it's a GT or an F6, it's now about the FPV brand - it's about serious performance."

Hmmmm hope it's some super awesome unexpected gift, and not a stripe package :(

No idea what it'd be that would excite me, but then I'm not getting paid to dream it up am I!

Well yeah that'd be very very interesting but I'm not holding my breath

Maybe it'll be a monstrosity like an AWD lotus sized super go kart shaped like a falcon head hahahaha....that'd be kinda cool but not really proper heritage honouring xD
