Below is an email I got today from Jo @ AIR today

Hello Scott,

<jo@adelaideraceway.com.au>

Yes you are right!! Street Drags will definately make a return to AIR very soon, but, no we still have not been able to set a date. Please keep an eye on the website as we do hope to get some info there very soon. 2008 is looking to be a great year for both Air events and promoted events.

If you have any questions at any time, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Kind Regards

Jo

is that a 1/4 mile track or 1/8 mile track Dave? I know that not many are interested in 1/8 mile. The 1/4 mile track is more sought after, especially if the track has been prepared properly for such events.

Sad but true, but the govt is chipping in with some help. It has now purchased wheel clamps for all of those hoons and can now clamp their cars in the drive for a few months.

That should fix the problem,

Hope this eventuates,

‘Plans for a $25 million sport racing complex in the North or Nth-western suburbs of Adelaide.
A consortium is looking for land, about 120ha are needed, to build a drag racing strip, speedway, race circuit, and jet boat racing, all at the one site.
They hope to have it up within 15 months.
It would also include a business park for supporting industries and could also be used as a driving school and concert venue.

Sounds pretty impressive, hope it gets going.

There is a public rally to support the proposed motorsport/drag strip at Port Adelaide 10 March 08 at 12pm on Todd St.
If you guys are serious about getting this proposal off the ground, then get off your backsides and get this info out to every petrol head in SA.
See you there.
Regards Bob

ANy news or updates guys?? Im hanging out for a proper drag strip!!
Unfortunately no clamps, suspension of licences, taking away of cars will decrease the people speeding and draging on adelaide roads. We need a proper venue where street cars can race their mates and not get into trouble. I mean, again the other day, 2 died in a crash at Joes pizza bar here (I live very near there) doing 120.. It will never end, but opening up a drag facility like we used to have will help..
