Some people are too simple, and in this case I have found you are better off not talking to them about cars. Not to undermine their automotive knowledge, but to avoid the frustration of putting up with them making you look smart.

It just bugs me that somebody can be so ignorant to think that the engine means everything.

I'm just glad your arguing about cars. For a moment looking at the thread title I thought here we go another school boy starting to grow up.

Yeah some people are blind to think that only the engine is an indication of a car's performance.
There's other factors like weight, handling, aerodynamics etc, but trying to get this through their thick heads, you'd be better off getting sense out of a brick wall. As for the Holden/Chev thing, since I own a Holden it gets annoying. Holden do nothing no differently to any other manufacturer. They're just blasted on more, because they don't share the same name as other subsidiaries of GM. |

Contrary to many people's beliefs, the V8 engines used in Commodores are not a "Chev" engine. They are a GM Powertrain engine which are used in Chev's, just the same way they are used in Holdens.

My car has more Nissan parts then late model Commodores have Chev parts, but I don't want a Nissan badge anywhere near my car, because my rego and compliance plates say Holden. Last edited by Ryan; 23-03-2008 at 05:37 PM. |

2, 1, bang.
thread starter: if you're actually looking for a constructive conversation, which i'm not 100% sure you are, maybe start a thread with more detail and a bit of background to what you're talking about. That way you also minimise the risk of clowns making stupid comments.
