G'day all,
Just writing to get the very sad news out that the wonderful Smoky Dawson passed away yesterday at 94 years of age after a short illness. Just a private memorial at the moment but there will be a public one in a few weeks. His lovely wife Dot is still alive and is 101 years old.

Dear ol' Smokey - what a guy, what a life.
Sad to hear of his passing but you've got to smile at the longevity of his fantastic life and the happiness he brought to so many people. True class.

i am sure he will be greatly missed both emotionally as a friend to many and also as a mentor to many of the music industry from the young starters to the long term players. when you hear interviews , smokey mostly seems to get a mention.
a real pioneer that never retired.

This little bit was in the news yesterday...
Hopefully some of us can get there, 99% sure it will be in Sydnet somewhere... 'A public memorial will be held next month around March 19, which would have been Dawson's 95th birthday.'
