If it was an accident, maybe it will be reported, but if it was intentional, then you won't hear anything about it.

I know someone who did the same thing on his 21st birthday, and is a very high level quad.
He can't do anything for himself, but he's still a bloody awesome, very friendly guy.
He got married a couple of years ago .

A man has drowned in a swimming accident at Barwon Heads this afternoon.

Police said the incident happened about 2.40 pm when the man tried to swim across the Barwon Heads River from the Ocean Grove side to the Barwon Heads side.

The man got into difficulties and tried to swim back, however he did not make it and was taken out of the water by two men in a boat.

Ambulance Officers tried to revive the man but were unsuccessful.

The name of the dead man, 26, who comes from Lalor has not been released.

Senior Constable Wayne Wilson

I think its more the fact that it doesnt happen a lot in Geelong. Especially wouldnt think of it happening at this location. Its not a surf beach or anything like that... as seen in the pic

But in saying that, I have been accross before and been fine. but another time got half way across under the bridge and turned around. and took about 20min just to get back to the side (swimming flat out between each post. then grabbing on, take a breath, then do the same to the next post) the tide pulling out was EXTREMELY strong.

I went to hawaii and seen a man drown at the north shore (anyone who knows what is can imagine the waves). He was on honeymoon with his new wife, and died after being in the water for 20 mins. The ambulance came, and she had to identify him in the back of it as she didnt even realise he had gone missing. She wasnt too happy. I have pics of his body being dragged from the water actually, pretty scary.

The currents there are strong and unpredictable and can quickly change direction, also there is also a sand bar that can cause undertows.

Looks like he possibly may have been connected to a bikie gang, the photo in the paper has a couple of guys wearing leather vests with patches on the back mourning his death.

Is it just me or does the media seem to word things terribly these days.

The name of the dead man. Just seems so wrong.
