Back in March I left an employer basically because there was no job prospects for me. Where I wanted to go within the company and what I was skilled to do, jobs were given to other people that had only 1/2 the ability (patting my own back here) that I could offer the position. It ended up being a lot of the good old "jobs for the boys".
Also I was pretty much told that I couldn't get a promotion in my current line of work because the positions just were not there, and management couldn't justify it (every 6 month review over 3.5 years of me performing in the top 10% of the company and they couldn't justify it). So I left... took a job i'm getting paid massively more, gaining skills hand over fist that I wouldn't get back at the original company in my original job. Also there is no (or at least very minimal) overtime required. I catch the tram to work so its a relaxed atmosphere because there is no peak hour traffic. Interestingly... today... from a good friend at the original company I get a telephone call. Asking me into a position at his department (completely different, different management stream). The job would be a definate promotion over where I was... but I have so many possibilities where I am. At this point of my life i'm not entertaining the job offer... but its nice to know that I really haven't burnt any bridges by leaving, and that people are still thinking of me. I'm curious if anyone has had something similar and how that have treated it. I basically left the door slightly open saying thanks but no thanks, i've got it good where I am, but I'd love to stay in touch. Thoughts?

I've been in a very similar position.
Lets just say you left for a reason......that reason was valid at the time and you'd probably find it is still valid today. Stay where you are happy IMHO

Yeah i'm staying where I am.... The original employer was an excellent employer, and the team of people where excellent.... just the management structure left anyone under the CEO neutered as far as decisions went.

Stay where you are happy. Personally, if I was you, and I was happy doing what you're doing now, I wouldn't take the risk of leaving and going elsewhere.

What a world of coincidences we live in. I left a small company in March to take a job offer with a subsidiary of my very first employer (redundancy in 2001) nearly double the money, onsite role with a vehicle. My employer I left offered some more money to keep me (not enough though) although due to some security clearance issues I'm not exactly sure what will happen
