Just wondering where these statistics are . I haven't seen them yet all I have seen is personal opinion. You will never get statistics that prove one style of playing is better than the other , just opinion.

OK... my advice , practice , practice , practice.

....lol . Imo before you even bother with lead , get all the major chords down patt first , and learn smooth chord changes ( changing from one chord to another ), then worry about lead / although messing around with a bit of lead/scales and modes / doesnt hurt while mastering the chords and chord changes first. Heres a bit or an original bit of lead i came up with a while ago , also using a few fx (using Music2000 for the backing track, sounds rubbish but does the trick for messing around ) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=geA3cl-fDog . The guitar was a mess back then , i made a new body for it recently ( nice woodgrain finish )

Nice work on that solo , sounds like something you have worked out before hand. I will have to try and do a bit more of that , I mainly just do stuff off the top of my head. I never play anyone elses solos in songs I just do my own thing with a few notes here and there just so it sounds a little like the original.
Great looking guitar , what is the body made from and where did you get the wood from ?
I used Tasmanian oak for my V body. Not realy a timber used in electrics but it sounds ok. I made my neck out of hard rock maple with a jarra frett board.
What did you finnish it with ? I have been useing 2 pac car paint on my guitars (black of course lol) and 2 pac clear on the neck. I give the necks a rub with fine steel wool just to take the shine of so you can slide up and down easier.

Cheers. I made the body from AAAA grade "PINE" !, no knots in it though , same wood as used for the old fender telecasters, sounds mint too

. I finished it with a wipe on spirit based cedar colour stain and sealed it with a heap of handrub coats of polyurethane. The wood was just from a local timber supplier, although i had to have that grade ordered in. Ended up costing $70 for the wood.

Wow, that's a really nice finish you have on that resto Ibanez. Fantastic little solo piece too I might add.

Yeah regarding modes Jazz players play in modes of the hungarian, super locrian etc. Most metal guitarists stay around major scale modes and minor scale modes (I'm talking other than natural minor because that is a mode itself). A lot of those exotic scales and modes are a lot harder to play than the standard modes that generally don't go further than a 3 fret stretch to the next degree (taking all strings into account of course).

Btw I am curious of your setup? (Mainly Guitar and amp).

I'll try to record but all I got is an onboard sound card (changes latency and goes out of time lol) and audacity with a $5 (yes $5) headset, I hope you take this into account when I get a chance to record this. It should sound semi decent, I'll record with my strat and JCM 900.

So are we going to hear anything from you?
Or should everyone just consider all you're comments on this thread for what I believed them to be the moment I read them. The ramblings of someone that wants to make what they do seem better than what other people do by putting them down. I have found that the fastest way to shut people who criticise other people up is to ask them to put up or shut up.

Well ive been bitten by the guitar bug again and was after some info....

- Is there a site that shows how to properly set up an electric guitar?
- Is an Ibanez RG321MH a decent guitar for a novice... I'm into hard rock/metal.

I just punched in guitar setup into google and a whole pile of sites came up.
Does the Ibanez have a floyd rose trem on it? If it does they can be a little tricky to set up. Nothing realy hard , but unless you know what you are doing it can be tuff. You dont want any lessons do you? I live at Toronto and specialise in metal just in case you are interested. I allso make my own guitars and work on them as well so if you have any questions about setting one up give me a pm and I will see if I can help you.

I used to have a Washburn with a Floyd Rose and it was a bit of a pain especially since I never used it.
Ive got my eye on a couple of Ibanez with fixed bridges..... something simple to get back into it.

ive been teaching myself for almost 2 years now, thinking back i wish i had 6 months of lessons because now that ive got my own style and i need to learn scales and all that properly.

ive got an RG with a floyd rose, its a lol, i bought this for it (www.tremol-no.com) works a treat, except now its screwed and needs to be set up properly.

Just wondering what was the reason you got that trem thingy. I have been using floyd style trems for 25 years and have never had a problem with them once properly set up . I can drop mine down so the strings are slack and even pull it up and they never go out of tune. I have seen things like that before and kind of wondered what they are meant to fix.
