Default More Historic rego info needed~!

G'day guys,

Was wondering if some people could shed some light on Historic rego in NSW. I was surfing the RTA website and the basic jist i got from it was that you must be apart of a RTA Financial contributor car club, car must be 30yrs old or more.

I wanna join one (76/77 ZH Fairlane) and was wondering which ones are good and what are their fee's and if their is some rules and regulations i should be aware of. I was reading in another members forum post (ZA fairlane from S.A) that he is restricted to 90 days per yr is that the same rule here or is it only club events?

Cheers,

Ridin-High

Hi,

I had historic rego on my xy falcon here in SA. I had to be a member of an approved club, had a log book which entitled me to 90 days of driving per year and it was inspected by a club delegate each year and by the cops when pulled over for breatho or the like. I think you may find that the 30 year old car thing is a bit of a problem as there was a cut-off time IIRC (1972 or so), otherwise there would be vb commodores and the like on histeric rego (hardly historic!!)

I would suggest you contact a club in your state FIRST. There are also very strict regulations about modifications to the car which ARE checked ie. exhaust, trim, motor etc. all must be factory fitted or available as an upgrade.

It is a great system and means you can have your cake and eat it too. (as long as your car fits the criteria)

Cheers,
Simon
