I don't see any threads about this so :
Just a heads up for people. I have had two people on msn 'send' me a link which is obviously a link to a virus / trojan / whatever. The link ends in a '.com' which is the give away as thats a command file. Think before you click is the big thing and if you get it, make sure your AV is up to date and get onto it ! |

Yep i got it, it scanned ok with VET then went crazy when i opened it, shut computer down and system restore to fix it.
When restarting diasable net connection, it trys to self connect. Anti virus does not pick it up. |

I learnt long ago not to click links. I always double check to make sure they aren't auto messages.

I have it, still trying to get rid of it. Its name is "Trojan Horse Generic5.GQ"
I looked up how to get rid of it, but I dont understand mumbo jumbo. I got told to run it through a Trojan horse deleter thingy. Seems to just be lying dormant, then attacks now and again. Avast got rid of some parts, and AVG got rid of the pop-ups, but now and again, itll send itself to all my contacts.

Try the onine scanner from trend micro called housecall. http://housecall.trendmicro.com I think ( this is a safe link, truuuuuuuust me !! ) Trend has it's good and bad points but at least it's there. A lot of things hide in System Restore so turning it off, then back on can get rid of it .. but it also gets rid of your restore points too so beware.

THat is why you never click on a link frmo friends, unless they tell you what it is directly.
I often send Youtube Links etc. but they are always things I like so people know I won't be stiffing them. I had a period where I was receiving several links from "friends" or friends would receive the link from "me". I had to yell, "DON'T CLICK! It's not from me!" |
