Can anyone suggest how to get my poor old electric windows sliding easily. I am afraid that one of these days the poor old motor is going to burn out from trying to push the window up. It is in an AUII XR8. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I have heard of silicone spray or dry powder lube but I don't want to stuff anything up. Thanks guys.

i think i gotta get some, cause when i got my car tehre was this goo all over the rubbers and my windows, so i wiped it off :P
then a week later, my left rear window got stuck up. i thought it just stopped like they usually do in AU's, but there is no lube on the rubbers so ithink it got physically stuck ![]()

Ok this is a silly question but where do you get silicon spray and where abouts do you spray it on the effected window. Also does the stuff effect tinted windows?

I got a big can from Bunnings - in the same section as they sell the kitchen stuff like stainless steel cleaner etc. It's called....silicon spray, and is about $15 a can. Some auto places also carry it.
Once acquired, you wind the window down, then spray as far down the window tracks as possible and keep spraying all the the way to the top. Then wind the window up and down a few times. Fixed my windows, and no ill effects on the tint.

Would it be best to remove the door trims so you can spray directly onto the window mechanism?

JC, are you sure that the spray won't damage the window tint. I'd better double check this, I only had the tinting done in late December. Need to rub that darned white goo off the rubbers also. Is that caused by condensation or something else? What would be the best way to get it off without doing any damage? GK |

Well guys, thanks for the tips. Looks like I have a job to do on the weekend. Just have to find one of those thin pieces of pipe to go on the can so that it doesn't spray everywhere. Sounds like there are a few people that have had the same problem. Thanks once again.

I've done mine a few times, didn't see much difference. The driver's window always moves maybe a third faster than the others. Does that happen to anyone else's driver's window?
Small tip: use cheap baby oil to clean your stainless steel around the house. I discovered this and it makes it look amazing.
