Default Muffler choice

Hey all

YES ! this is another exhaust question....im sorry :P

But i went down to the local exhaust shop and got quoted 320 buks to keep my standard twin 2 1/4" system, but taking the standard mufflers out and wackin in a couple of straight through sports mufflers.

Now i forget the brand name of the mufflers.. But is there a good muffler to use in my circumstance?? (brand name)?? And is that a good price?

He also quoted me 500 for a 3" system. Im just a bit worried about droning so if i was to get that wats the best setup??

Cheers guys
Frank

Twin 2.25" system with decent mufflers is more than bucket loads for even a pretty hot 5L.
I wouldn't use a 3" single as they are more difficult to keep quiet, and offer no performance advantage.

Ive got twin 2 1/4" from cat back with turbo stainless mufflers just after the diff on my ute and its a sweet sound,
makes your v8 sound like its got a hefty set of nackers without going over board, and if you find its a touch to loud you can always wack a couple of 9" dogs behind the cat.
hope this helps

I use a pair of ESA (Exhaust Systems Australia) centre mufflers, straight through type, on mine along with a rear resonator and it sounds absolutely bloody beautiful. System is a full twin 2.5" with X pipe and I have no drone at all but it is quite loud at times.

I'm an avid lover of lukey race mufflers- two of those in twin 2 1/2" with 2 1/4 out will sound beaut and not need any resonators either........

I love Lukey's on a Windsor

I just dumped the two main mufflers on the TS and replaced them with 9" hot dogs (Mercury). Left the rest of the system alone including the rear resonator and the sound is great with no droning at all. Initial pick-up feels a little sharper too.
