Yeah they were crap. First motorhome was a 1970 LWB duallie Transit. 250 six pack 4 speed went like the clappers (so did the fuel) , wasn't so keen on stopping going down mountains.
Had our neighbour who painted houses, brush paint it.
Gearstick would drop out of 4th if you let the foot off the go pedal. RIP, POS.
