I recently got a Thule Polar 100 (only a smallish pod) and did about a 700k trip and I've gotta say was pleasantly surprised as it had minimal impact on economy. Couldn't tell you exact figures, but would say not enough difference to notice. No wind noise either, but getting the bugs off em is another matter!!
