Hey everyone,
This may be a 'noob' question so be kind.... ;) Can someone explain to me how the over boost works on cars? Is it as simple as when you mash the right peddle you get it or? Thanks |

In the FGs that is the case. "Mash " the pedal and an over boost of an extra 2psi (???) kicks in for a few seconds

Like most modern turbo engines, the XR6 Turbo gets an overboost function that can increase turbo pressure "by up to 10 per cent for several seconds, increasing available engine torque for improved performance," says David Mitchell, the powertrain development manager at Ford Australia. Suffice it to say, overtaking is never a problem for this flying Falcon. |

Some have a button you need to press.

Our FG has a "button" feel when you press the accelerator flat. It's like a little extra click at the end. Maybe that's the "button"?

Raising boost, raises the combustion temperature and over the long term there is a maximum value that is allowed when all of the temperatures reach equilibrium and effectively meet the maximum for the given condition.
Overboost, sometimes called transient overboost, is an allowance during transient conditions that allows you to go beyond the long term steady state max conditions when transitioning from a low power output state to that of a higher power output state. Or something along those lines

Mash accelerator to the floor and I'm sure you'll soon forget about it and just hold on for dear life
