Default 1994 Laser

i have a 1994 Ford Laser Liata LXi KJ which i under stand has been fitted with a Mazda 323 engine from ford. the problem is the engine starts and runs well.

Problem is i can drive fore a short period of time (5-10) minutes and the engine just cuts out, stops dead.If i wait for about 10 mins (sometimes longer) the engine will start and i can drive again, and it will stop again.

I have had all wiring checked and could find no fault.

I have replaced the fuel filter in engine bay. replaced the coil packs and spark plugs. it does not seem to have a vacuum leak. also checked electrical connections for bad contacts and all in the engine bay were ok. the only thing that i have noticed is that the electric cooling fan for the radiator starts up when i start the engine.it does not seem to make a difference whether the fuel tank is full or low. I am at a loss as what to try next.

I would say it could be the ignition module, or the crank angle sensor. Both are known to display the symptoms you describe when faulty. Heat effects the electronics inside and once cooled down they start working again, until it gets hot again.
