Well, some of you may know about my recent running probs with the XC.
Timing was out to buggery, got it sorted and it ran better. But i got sick of a little better and had it taken further. Turned out 3 valves were burnt out, so that was fixed up. Ran better than i can ever remember for a few days and i was immensely happy. But was asked to take it back as my vac advance needed some more minor adjustment and probly a regraph as it couldnt be adjusted any further. On the way home the other night, began running rough again. So i baby it home that night and run it back down again to my trusty mechanic next morning. Turns out, now ive blown a head gasket between Cyls 1&2. Apparently it doesnt look too bad, no damage to block or head. Looks as though i might get away with a gasket replacement. Although, he wants to have a closer look before continuing. So im hoping it have the car back on the road sooner than later. The Mrs wants me to upgrade now, so that might happen too.

LOL, While ive remembered it. :hihi:
I forgot a mate of mine was trying to sell a worked 351 from his XC, built for 400HP. I wonder if he still has it... And if i can knock him down a few $$$ on it. I was saving $$$ for a box & diff upgrade, although im not sure it would handle that engine for long. I'm sure the Mrs would have something to say about that idea... LOL :Up_to_som

Well we are 99% sure the source of my problems has been found.
It turns out my timing troubles were the result of a broken "roll pin" in my electric dizzy that was installed last Feb. With it broken, the bottom of shaft was just moving around willy nilly advancing and retarding it back an forth, obviously not a very good thing. Upside is no damage to the block or heads Although, they are getting cleaned up just to be safe. You can sort of see the roll pin in the picture below, just above the teeth of at the bottom of the shaft. A part that costs only a few cents brings it all undone...
