dunno , but there's nothing stopping you chopping your origininal gear shift bar to the suited length and re-threading the end of it, people been doin this for years . ;) .

Cheers. I am hoping someone might know if BA Shifter will Fit onto a AU, as I have opp to buy one cheap.
I did have a look at BTP http://norcom.net.au/~bpt/gear%20lev...%20turrets.htm but the one I am looking at is cheaper than this. Failing that, I may just in fact chop it myself as suggested... |

Are you talking about a Shortened Gear Lever or a Short Shifter.
If your talking about a Short Shifter, like you said. If the BA is a T5, and it is not from a GT with a T56. Then it should go. Best bet would be to ask one of our sponsor's.

sorry for the confusion. I am talking about the bar/pole/gearlevel (that the knob fits on). I have an opp to buy one cheap <$40 but its out of a BA, and am not sure if this would infact fit into/onto the bit thats ontop of the gearbox. 5 speed manual AUI
sorry don't know all the terminology |

In that case if it's just the shorter "stick" that the gear knob sits onto, then XR6-VCT-2000's & LG's advice will be right.

you chopped the original yeah ? , i gather you did as i can see a tap and die set on the fron passengers seat in the pics ..lol ;) - way to go . .. nice job , now you have yourself a tap and die set for the price of a shorter bar , sure to come in handy later too ;) .. Actually easier than changing the bar to a shorter one imo .

hehehe, nah i had the tap and die set ages ago.... but becuase everyone on here said go for it, and how easy it is, i thought I'd give it a go...
cheers for looking at it... I was wrapped, i thought it would have been harder, i did make a mistake which required and angle grinder, as 50mm was to much, I'd love to go shorter now... just as big as your hand plus 20mm out... not sure if it like does any damage to anything though, or makes it weaker etc etc, or puts more stress on it, will find out if/when it breaks... now for the group buy "short shift" kit, and then I'll be happy.. |

I've never known a chopped gearstick to cause any damage ! , it's no different than a shorter stick you buy from a shop, it'll be fine ;) . Good to see it worked out well for you .

I bought the gear stick fitted to the T series. Difference being that the origional stick is straight where the T stick is shorter and bent towards the driver. Was advised that the au's already were fitted with a short shifter, just to change the gear stick. Cost approx $100. Easy to fit ,just undo knob.remove boot and undo 2 bolts. Done in no time! Now 1st,3rd and 5th are positioned where netural was.

If you want the bend in the bar that can easilly be achieved too by heating it with an oxy/blowtortch heating it up and bend it , allthough you would have to remove the bar to do this , depends how you like them anyway - personally imo i like them short but straight anyway .
