Currently working on a project to modify my stock centre console (Photo on right) into something similar to the Lime ute featured in the magazine recently (Photo on left). Its a DIY job with my own time and resources, so far had no assistance or very little technical know about how the ICC works, only know general electronics.
I heard its the most delicate piece of machine of the car and is a big risk to muck around with so do not attempt it or you'll likely lose your ICC. So far I've got my fingers crossed that I'd take care and hope it doesn't clonk out on me. At this stage have replaced most of the stock green LEDs with super white LEDs. And re-wired more than 70 wires to relocate the standard ICC screen. Progress now... Temporarily electric tapes are hiding the gaps in the facia however will add MDF to the cut edges to make it look like the rest of the fascia. Once all complete the fascia, gear surrounds and cup holder lids will be painted to woodgrain. And this concept below is what I hope to achieve. |

Pete that's going to come up really well. I saw that ute too and really like what they have done to the interior, the colour is not something Id pick but it works very well.
Best of luck with it.

I've done plenty on the exterior of my car now my interior needs attention. the interior had been stock ever since I bought the car. |

this project is coming to a closure and will be unfinished. my A/C & factory radio still ain't working. my wife has said enough and i have to pull the plug.
its not all bad news as i have acquired a upgrade ICC to premium colour from ASL to replace it. hopefully i won't mess around with this one too. below photo is what i last got up to. screen moulded into ICC and playing streetford dvd. and yes, that's the facia colour i experimented with. |

In response to another thread below & previous post.
REF - THREAD: Double din in your BA? Here's why it won't work easily Bare with no icc, only bem & amp. It is possible to completely relocate all those units. Monster of a job. If you get around to it then you can fit anyrhing you want behind the fascia. This was operational before i had problems with the cc & cd not working. i now found that i had shorted it while trying to find out which current went where on the controls pcb. This is where I finished at but still alot more work to be done of internals & externals. YES you can fit double din but its a matter of going ALL the way. Unfortunatley my wife gave me an ultimatum and had to abandon project. Now I've got bits & pieces which might consider passing on to somebody who's keen on taking it further. Who knows, maybe a crazy e-series owner to experiment into their e-series car. PM me if interested. |
