There is a buzzing noise from the engine when I turn it off. It only happens when the engine is hot - at this time of year, 10 minutes from a cold start. The check engine light isn't on and it runs perfectly, although maybe slightly louder than usual.
Is this the EGR valve?

If it is a valve it's likely the turbo vacuum boost control valve.
If there are two of these valves the one closer to the front is the egr vacuum control valve. It differs from an electrical buzz in sounding more fart like. These valves are identical and you can swap them round for testing. MC has just one for the turbo, egr went electrical. They can be recognised by distinctive brown colour and three vacuum ports. May or may not affect turbo performance. Mine made a noise for a few years before I replaced it. Last edited by rondeo; 20-09-2019 at 08:13 AM. |

Mine buzzes/moos also. (If you're describing the short - about 1-2 seconds long - noise it makes immediately after shutting off the engine.)

It can be quite a few seconds and seems to vary depending on how long the engine has been running. Maybe 10-15 sometimes?
