Default Bigpond Email Accounts - through MSN?

Does anybody have a secondary email account with Bigpond? I have a secondary one from our main one and it is going through Hotmail which I don't like, I want it all through Bigpond. Can it be changed?

Useless response here but called Bigpond or emailed Tech Services?

I suppose my first question is what do you mean by going through Hotmail?

All Bigpond e-mail addresses are getting migrated to Live servers. So you must have got the secondary after the primary was created (when you connected) because all new addresses are being created to only use Live servers.

Eventually your primary will change too and I don't believe you can migrate back.

Yeh as above this is what has happened. The trouble I am having is that I use Thunderbird as my mail client and I have the primary email connected to it, now I want to add the secondary as well, but I can't seem to get it working. The Bigpond page doesnt provide info on how to configure Thunderbird either.

Mmmmm it's been a while since I used Thunderbird but when checking the account settings do they reflect these from the BigPond website?

INCOMING SERVER SETTINGS

POP Server: pop3.live.com
Security: This server requires a secure connection (SSL)
Port: Default SSL Port 995
OUTGOING SERVER SETTINGS

SMTP Server: smtp.live.com
Security: This server requires a secure connection (TLS or SSL Encryption depending on the mail client you’re using)
If you are currently using Outlook, Mac Mail, iPhones, Windows Phones, Android’s please use TLS.
Port: Default TLS Port 587
IMPORTANT – ALSO BE SURE TO:

Tick the box indicating outgoing server requires authentication (in most email clients, this is not selec ted by default).
Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) with the POP and SMTP connection, and SMTP authentication for security.

Obviously use your secondary e-mail address and password with the incoming and outgoing details. Other than that it should work?
