Hey all. I just picked up my new-ish car - a WT Fiesta Zetec, 5 door in Phantom Blue. It was first registered in January 2011, and only has 7,000km on it.
One thing - only got one key (plus the valet key). Any idea where / how much to get a replacement from? |

All new Fiestas should come with 2 sets of keys/immobilisers. If yours only has 7K kms on it then the dealership really should have them both, otherwise they're a few hundred to replace.

The original owner probably lost it so they cut a cheap one as replacement. I doubt they'll give you another one out of goodwill (most don't see the big picture) but you never know.

One other thing. According to Redbook the WT Zetec was released in October 2010. But my manufacturer's plate on the door pillar has the manufactured date as June 2010 (compliance July 2010). Am I missing something?
Also, the manufacturer's plate mentions Germany (Ford GMBH), but not Thailand. Is this normal? Thanks for everyone's help. I reckon I'll be visiting here lots! |

Sounds like it could be a WS?

Yeah (don't take my word for it) but Jun10 smells WS to me. Who said WT to you?
You can check the VIN to confirm. You can also tell from the dashboard I believe. The WS has a soft db when you push with your finger, the WT has a hard more plastic-y feel. PS: My wife's WS is jun built and july compliance. |

I have a month old WT Zetec and it was only supplied with one central locking flip key and the other is the valet key that the OP mentions. This may be a further cut back that Ford has made. (Had a look at the WT brochure and it states '...remote central locking with flip key and spare key)
My compliance plate also has Ford Werke GMBH, but a quick Google search shows that represents the parent company, and probably there to make most people think they are getting a European made car. However, if your VIN starts with MNB... then it's a Thai sourced vehicle from AutoAlliance Thailand. German VIN's start with WF0 or WF1. Cheers Moorie. |

WT's were only supplied with one flip key and one non-flip key. Cost cutting.

- has storage tray under passenger seat - doesn't have height adjustable steering wheel - didn't have a spare (but just got dealer to swap it) - has the chrome do-dads on the front bumper. I'll post a pic of the compliance plate later. Mate someone can shed some light on it for me. Do other WT's has Thailand on the manufacturer's plate?

I thought that WT Zetecs got 2 remotes while LXs and CLs got 1. Or maybe the dealer was just misinformed...

I'm confused! The VIN is definitely a WT, but the build date seems to be before first WT's were made??? Anyone got any ideas?

I think the only existing Thai-built Fiestas before July 2010 were the pre-production models. |

I was wondering what the difference is between the WTs we have here and the latest incarnation of the MK7 the pommies drive around.

Wonder if it was brought out earlier than the official release date to be shown at one of the motor shows that are usually on August to October.

Just put my VIN in, if you have a look under the 'minor features' it says something like this (you have to click on it to open the detailed view, as below):

At least if it is pre-production or was for car shows then I'd imagine the finish quality should be pretty high....

Try changing the last number up or down one or two digits. You might pick up another car built on the same day.

A) a pre-production model (first WT Zetec?) B) made for display at car shows? C) a result of huge lead times between manufacturing and delivery, maybe Ford stockpiled to ensure availability? Thanks for all the help. It's still a bit of a mystery, but at least I have confirmed that it is a WT and was made in Thailand.

Good luck finding anyone in Ford who has any idea mate, let alone one that cares about finding out.
In general Ford Oz dont know anything about the fiesta's. We seem to know more about them in here than they do. |
