Bought in 1979 in Mt Gravatt, Brisbane, it had small chrome GS badges on the front and rear.
They have gone missing and I want another set of badges for it as this car is in basic original condition. |

Dont think they would have been original mate from the factory, there never was "GS" badges, unless the dealer may have fitted them or someone else.

Sure it wasnt a BS Badge? The only ones I could think of that would be close. Bib Stillwell had a chrome badge "BS Special" on cars bought through the dealer that usually came with special Bib additions. Usually bad 70's cloth interiors or even just air conditioning optioned had them.

Badges were taken off as insurance for a GS in the '70s was twice the price as a GT ... then I lost them

Nice XA you have there. Just as others have said, there was no GS badge on the XA. Must of been fitted by the previous owner or dealer.

The last comment was wrong. GS & GT were double the premium of fairmont
and 500 They suggested i take the GS badges off and call it a Fairmont which i did. There was one on the boot RH side along from the ford badge and one on the grill, left side and the plastic holders are still there that held the GS badge. I filled the 2 small holes in the boot and did a paint touch up. |

Would put my house on the fact that it either had the BSS badge (Import from Vic) or a GT badge on it (after market). You do relise by removing badges on a car for insurance reasons would negate the claim if you had an accident? Calling a GT or what ever a Falcon/Fairmont at the time of insurance is the easy bit! Make a claim against the ID tag and it would be a different story though.

I hope you have a really nice house cos the badges were definitely GS - the G and the S were adjoined (chrome) and were in the same font as the FORD badge except the letters in that badge are not joined together.

Are you sure that the badges were not used/modified from another make and fitted to yours?

Well the JG34NG # on one ID plate indicates that it is a Fairmont Sedan cos of the 34, but it states it's a Falcon Sedan on the other ID plate alongside.
Anyone know what the following serial # 20259 means? Or do I have to consult the Ford Factory? |

Like I said mate, there never was any "GS" badges put onto any Falcons from the factory.
Sounds like either a dealer fitted item or someone else has fitted them. |

As the vehicle was around 7yrs young when you got your hands on it, obviously the previous owner/s have done some changes, as simple as that.

Sorry to thread mine !!!
But looking at the pics of the car again it appears someone has added the Protection Pack 04 Side Protector Moulds and front and rear Overriders - as they listed as factory option on your vehcile report Not sure of you can have both the protecttor moulds and gs swirl stripe from factory Has anyone seen both the side moulds and side stripes on a gs before. I would lose the side moulds as it detracts from the car (my opinion only!!) Great colour combo once again anyway mate, any updates on the car? |
