All I can say is, don't do it yourself unless you're an expert. I had a mate change his bulbs and they pointed in the wrong direction and he couldn't see a thing. Got them fixed by a mechanic, and they were too dull anyways. Yes, they do look good though.

I have xenons in mine (mk1 focus zetec), just a hint dont go above 5500K xenons, while they look damn good the coppers will be on your back cos they are illegal for some stupid reason. I have Phillips 5500K Xennons they cost me $70 for a pair and i installed them myself. I am yet to get high beam globes but i will very soon, Im going to get ultra bright high beams, above 5500K, they are very expensive though, well above $100.

While it is a pain in the to install the globes, cos there is hardly any room under the hood of the car, i would do it yourself just be gentle dont ram them in or you will have alignment problems. They are only globes, not a new engine, not hard to do just time consuming cos of the space issues.

If you had a mechanic install them they would charge you the minimum hourly rate which varies. Unless you found a sympathetic mechanic, they might feel sorry for you and put them in for nothing. I had to get a blown globe changed so i took it to ford, they all laughed at me, cos its generally not hard to change a globe. But once they got under the hood and seen how annoying it really is to do with a focus, they retracted thier smart comments.
