I found this on another forum, Hope its not a repost.
Quite interesting and could have some large ramifications, either way. I hope no one has to be reminded to be careful what you say. http://www.smh.com.au/news/technolog...e#contentSwap1 Quote:

If you download an episode of a tv show that is shown on free to air tv isn't that technically still stealing? Then whats the difference of borrowing someones tape when they taped that same show?

I plan to sue Ford for supplying me a vehicle in which I can break the law.
Or Maybe I could sue the people that made my pc, they too have stood by and done nothing while I've downloaded stuff. As far as I can see, it is the same thing....

AFACT is going after the ISPs rather than individuals as there is more money to be made suing the like of iinet. I read on Whirlpool that iinet were forwarding the details from AFACT onto the authorities, so they weren't ignoring them.
AFACT are acting like their word is truth and trying to bully the ISP's into doing their dirty work for them. iinet are quite right in saying it's up to the law to find users guilty and punish them. If iinet jumped and cut users off on AFACT's say so, they open themselves up to damages claims from users if it is shown they are wrong. The law already can deal with copyright infringement. I hope AFACTS legal attack falls flat on it's face.
