Hi the fuel gauge in my Mk1 Cortina GT has decided to not work. I had the tank out, cleaned & painted etc, body also painted. There is only a single wire to the sender unit. Should the sender earth via the tank to body? Suggestion welcome.
thanks Joe |

At least it's only the one gauge that isn't working. |

sender earths thru tank body -clip a jump wire to clean earth and touch other end to sender body and see if gauge works-if it now works apply an earth to the tank is probably the easiest

Yes LG - all other gauges work.
11ford11 - I was thinking of doing exactly that, & if worked, solder a lug to sender for an earth wire. Just wanted to confirm that I was heading in the right direction first. Thanks. |

My fuel gauge in my mk2 escort stoped working as well but it turns out it is the actual gauge in the cluster that has **** itself. check that for you as well.
