has anyone made one of those car front end or rear ends into a BBQ. I can imagine the process not too hard, but can anyone help me.
The story is i run a community men's group, and im thinking of running a community project with a few lads who each have their own skills (inc. a boiler maker). Does anyone have detailed photos, or even a basic instructions for constructing one together... and being ford at heart, any suggestions on a square shaped front or rear end. Im thinking XE - XF?

I wouldn't go with a xe xf, but perhaps an older style smaller car, eskie or cortina?
It's just a matter of lightening the front end, strengthening onto box frame with wheels/legs and inserting bbq grill A bit of imagination normally helps.. .perhaps that could be the first challenge for the group? cheers concordec. My office PC doesnt let me open the second page. I have photos here of a GTS monaro.
Did think of a cortina too. Hmmm, ill be approaching the guys when i return from holidays in a month. Will definately post photos of working progress and completed project when its finished. Anyone have any ideas for what car to use and which end? one that'l be cheap and easy to get parts for too (living in whyalla - only have the option of one local wrecker)

 Seriously, something like a ZH fairlaine would look pretty good, and fit huge barbie under the bonnet. Just have to have a look at what the wrecker has and what you can do with it. I'm sure you will have heaps of ideas once you all start looking at the old wrecks. Dave. |

use the back end off an old XR <-> XY . cut it off at the bottom of rear screen, remove fuel tank and fit the bbq into the boot floor . use the boot lid as a bbq cover.
i would think that the rear end of the car would beasier to work with then the front because it is all one piece to start with. the XR <-> XY series boot lid opens up to give clear access to the lower boot from behind , the rear guards and section that would normally be behind the seat would make a good wind shield , when you close the boot lid it would completly hide the bbq part.
