No promises - but I just might have a copy of Stunts around somewhere; in this moving house phase I'll search through those old things they called "floppy disks" and see what I can find. None of my computers have floppy drives, but if its there I'll work something out. Twas a cool game in its day! I used to switch between that and Test Drive II - The Duel. Hmm 16 colour low resolution Porsche 959 goodness.

Google is your friend - the site was like the 3rd search result listing
Abandonware is the term you are looking for when searching.

Correct Paul.

Looking for any old game, type in the name of the game, followed by "Abandonware"

Also, for the benefit of sound and playability, get "DosBox".

We still have our original copy of Street Rod, bought in 1990. Classic game.

With Dosbox, I also recommend the D-Fend front end for it. This lets you set up profiles for it, so you just double click the icon and it runs it through Dosbox

There were cheats for Street Rod 1?

Trouble with Street Rod 2 is there is an unavoidable obstacle in Mullhulland Drive that you always crash and die into. Drages (on and off street) and the go grease lightning go LA River races were always fine.

That obstacle on Mulholland Drive in SR2 was road works I think. Trick was to slow down to 45 when driving through it or something along those lines. As for the cheat in SR1, you buy the '49 Chev Styleline, completely strip everything off it then sell it for something crazy like $10000.

You could probably get some sort of GUI front end so you can use icons to start games, but I just use the command line. With DOSBox you first have to mount the location where the game is, for example:

mount c C:\SR1

Here you are telling it to mount C:\SR1 to the virtual drive called 'c'. Then you change to that virtual drive by typing:

c:

Then finally now that your in the drive where the game is you need to run it by calling the *.exe file. In my example it would be as simple as just typing:

SR.exe

Note to list the contents of a folder you can use the command:

dir

Wow ive never heard of those games in my life. but to open games from dos you need to type in the full Directory to the game file. or just try what Kev wrote.

You need to create a virtual DOS drive. For example I put SR2 in
d:\games\sr2
so I would type at the DOSBOX prompt:
mount c d:\games\sr2

Now to put myself in the correct drive in DOSBOX I'd type "c:" as I chose to refer to the game directory I mounted as "c:"
"dir" to list the contents of the directory if I didn't know the file to launch it
This would show me "sr.exe" being the only exe file in there, so then I'd type "sr" or "sr.exe" to start the game.

LOLZ, I used to cheat with "Fast hack'em" on Street Rod. Ahahaha.

I threw out my old C64 games and console about a year ago, after hanging on to them for about 20 years, "just in case" I might use it again.
After the PC, I figured it wasn't going to happen sometime soon.

Then the wifey got the clean up bug and I had to decide if I had to let my childhood go or not.

I think the old hobo's down the local tip, would have had an early xmas with the present I gave them. Ahahaha.

BA Wagon...there are C64 emulators. Many of them, and they emulate games quite well, though some are far better than others.

Did you have Wizball? That game kicked bottom.

And with regards to selling the Styleline on Street Road, max was 30,000 or 31,000. Any higher and it would result in a negative figure.

Read the posts above yours and you'll see I mentioned just that in post #5.

Here's a link to the D-Fend download which is what I use with Dosbox

I have never got California Games working on DosBox.
I also downloaded Microprose F1 GP, but it runs terribly on DosBox.

If you all want a real game, download Star Control II, but you will probably only appreciate it if you're a science fiction geek like me. Nerds will love it even more.

Just a thought, you can speed DOSBox up to trick it into thinking it is a faster computer. You press Ctrl + F12 I believe. Give it about 5 or so presses and you should see preformance increase. You can also check the DOSBox website for a list of supported games.

Unfortunately I can't get Grand Theft Auto 1 running properly. The newer Windows version runs like crap on my system, and the Dos version doesn't run much better, even in Dosbox! I've tried speeding it up, I've changed half the settings and it's still no good.

Cal Games doesn't even start up for me.

The execute doesn't like DosBox for some reason.

So I just accept it. Many other great games.
