Is this guy an American?

Perhaps he should just trial it himself and not put his clocks forward. That way he can see what it's like with one hour less of sunlight a day.

Yeah I am crapped off as well as I am losing an hours sleep EVERY day.

Damn curtains are also starting to fade with all the extra sunlight.

Curses, curses, and more curses.

Surely that first post is a take, if it is not.....oh dear.

i heard a guy on the radio a few mornings ago representing some qld farmers organization saying that qld should never get daylight savings because it will expose everyone to so much more sunshine causing increased sun cancer , and that qld already has more sunlight than other states so we dont need any more.

i wonder if he has ever been down south in the summer time and noticed the longer twilight periods, i recon canberra has an extra hour of light of the afternoon than here without adding daylight savings.

i would vote for daylight savings anytime. infact i think it would fit in here for longer then the southern states because of our short winters.

That's not completely silly though.

There are peak periods of sunlight, though I can't recall the exact hours (I thought they were around 1-2pm which makes the following wrong...) However, I recall reading a study that suggests moving the clock forward exposed kids to experience those hours during their lunch time.

People always say that Queensland doesn't have daylight savings because people thought that cows wouldn't come in to be milked, chooks would lay bad eggs, and curtains would fade, all because of the "extra hour of daylight".

Does anyone know of any actual references to the above? Similar to the letter mentioned in the first post of this thread?

Daylight saving is always a good laugh.

The real problem is that most of QLD and NT is north of the tropic of capricorn.

The world is not flat it is round and it does not rotate exactly square to the sun. This is called SEASONS and there is a reason why the further you get from the equator the bigger the difference between summer and winter.

Daylight saving does bugger all up here except expose schoolkids to an extra hour of sunlight after school, annoy unions because the people who are not farmers but involved in primary industry like truck driver etc have to change their work times because the animals etc dont have clocks and live by the sun. (e.g. want to be milked at the same time).

Sorry I forgot that heaps of urban heroes in Brisbane and the Gold Coast might get an extra hour of daylight so they can watch TV in their airconditioning while saving money by not having their lights on.......

NSW and Victoria also have primary industry but as most of the people live in the two ciries they get outvoted every time.

If daylight saving is such a good idea lets have it all year round. Move the clocks forward permanently.
Who cares if it will be dark in Melbourne and Sydney during work hours.......

Im inclined to agree, from what I recall, it was eons ago that the referendum came up, out west with DLS, the sun wouldnt set until 10pm during December/January (longest days of year) I cant imagine trying to get a 9 yr old to bed while the sun is going to be up for another 2-3 hours.

You want an extra hour of daylight a day, get up an hour earlier, suns up before 5 am in summer here anyway.

Anecdotal evidence in WA has shown an increase in rates of depression since the trial began.

Daylight savings is for whingers who couldn't be arsed getting out of bed an hour earlier unless everyone else does.

I think a lot of people don't like DLS, in that they don't know how to change the time on their digital watch. Thats the reason one of my mates doesn't like it.

If daylight savings time is scrapped,
does that mean we can only go to the bank at night?
