Good evening gents.
Wondering if maybe someone on here could help me with an issue I had today in peak hour when my focus had the battery light come on for a while while driving today. A few hours later while I was driving the power steering cut out and more warning lights popped up. While I was in the process of pulling over the dash then had a red flashing light and everything went dead. I could not start the car and I had no electrics whatsoever. I have recently installed a new battery so I would not of thought that would be the problem...I checked the connections and the earth. All seems fine. Could it be that the alternator decided to die or possible fuse? Any help would be appreciated Tommo

Hey bud,
The battery light means the alternator isn't charging the battery - when this comes on you're at the mercy of the charge left in the battery that isn't being charged. Could be one (or both) things: Dead alternator Blown fusible link in alternator wiring loom There's a 280A non replaceable fusible link in the wiring loom for the alternator going to the positive battery terminal - the whole wiring loom needs to be replaced if this blows. Costs about $200 for the wiring loom |
