I don't, or care, who compiled the list, but.......
There's at least a few on there that I really can't see why. Hmm, okay then....let's pick one. Eddie Vedder (Pearl Jam). The guy sings like he's having something anally inserted.....gimme a break.

Reasonably accurate listing. However as said above some songs make you think, "riiiiiiiiight whatever".
Bloody good to see Ian Gillian at #2, i was going to do my block if Child in Time wasnt 1/2 or 3. EDIT:.........i just noticed something. Where in the hell is "Bat Out of Hell" - Meat Loaf??? That has to be in the top 5!!!!!!!!!

I like smashing pumpkins BUT
Billy Corgan - Smashing Pumpkins - Tonight, Tonite?? Umm, block your nose and sing away, youll sound just like him. A band in there, Heart, they have a chick singer (or 2?) she has an awesome voice. My favourite vocalist....... Andy Mclean - Horsehead (former Melbourne pub rockers that should have been HUGE) They played major venues supporting the likes of Live, Metallica & Alice Cooper then mostly just pubs around this great country.. He was awesome from a major stadium to small pub. Last edited by JADED6; 12-02-2005 at 10:58 PM. |

Pretty decent list there, some I'd replace but eveyone has different tastes.
Obviously someone hasn't heard Eddie Vedder's voice live.. :sm_drool: I might copy that and some of the songs that I haven't got in my playlist or on disc already, start adding to my collection. :voldar02: What?? No Amy Lee? Where do I lodge my formal complaint? :nutsycuck

Problem is, music is such a subjective thing, person A will think that band A sounds better then band B, while person B will disagree and think that band B sounds better then band A.

IMO Amy Lee sounds better on CD than live. Live, she isn't that good.

I think Amy Lee's voice isn't suited to what she sings. It sounds alright in My Immortal (the only Evanesence song I can listen to), in the rest she sounds forced and on the verge of screaming.
But thank god that list proved you can put a "Greatest Rock" list together and NOT include Nirvana. |

Great thread!! And some pretty decent music there too. Good to see David Coverdale (Whitesnake/Deep Purple) get a mention, his voice is awesome!!
A name I'd like to dredge up is Graeme Bonnet. He had a hit in the '70's with a cover of Bob Dylans "It's all over now baby blue". He had a couple of others of a disco style then went on to front Richie Blackmores Rainbow for a while. This guys voice is phenomenal!! Unreal!! Pretty sure he's retired now, I believe he was pushing 40 by the time he hooked up with Rainbow. |

I couldnt really care what order is in the list... Im just impressed that Chris Cornell made it to number 3 with a song that is a tribute to an artist no-one ever heard of... imo anything he touches is gold and apparently this person thinks so too, because he is all through that list..
Also happy to see Alice in Chains - Rooster so high up there... and of course, Gunners... bet everyone knew that would happen

Interesting list. I always wonder what the criteria for these things are and who gets to vote?
I'm glad to see that Mr Trent Reznor just scrapped it in. Good to see Chris Cornell made it a few times. I was surprised U2 wern't further up though. |

So Maddestman, you said that Amy Lee is Bruce Lee's daughter, am I right? If so, that's cool
I am VERY GLAD to see Freddie Mercury in that list often... I miss him. And there weren't many women, but that's prolly cos there aren't that many who sing rock songs I guess. Yes RSgerry, where IS Vanilla Ice? Now there was an artist!

Thank Christ, a list of top songs that actually includes Mike Patton from Faith No More. The guy has to be one of the most under rated vocalists on the planet, with a huge range and incredible song writing ability. I had a beer with him and Trevor Dunn from Mr Bungle a couple of years back, top guys.
