Default RedXR347 cops a love tap >:(

Sitting at the lights waiting for a train to go past (we have old school gates with traffic lights up here) and I was there for a good couple of minutes when *crunch* the woman in the car behind me rolls into the back of my XR. Ouch.

Damage is minor, limited to a crease in the rear bar and the lower kit has broken all its mounts. Still not good. She gave her details after first saying that I rolled into her, we were facing down hill and mine was in drive, but eventually admitted fault. She also said her brother owns Ballarat Custom Fabrication and that he can fix it, whether or not I let that happen is yet to be seen. No pics because I can't bear to put pics of it like this up on here.

And here you are Aust (b2tf) saying how yours is a magnet!

Tough break dude.

She sounds like a really peanut if she tried to say you rolled into her so I would NOT be leaving it to her probably peanutted family to do the repairs

Bugger eh Russ, if experience has taught me one thing though, it is NEVER go with "oh my mate/brother owns xxxxxx i'll get it fixed for you" - you'll end up with a halfass job done on the cheap.

better go and check my insurance premium :

Must be a woman thing, A woman ran into me once and gave details and when I rang later she said Not paying because I ran into her. Never mind the my car was parked at the kerb with no occupants inside and me standing on the opposite side of the road. She changed her mind when I produced witnesses.

Repairs dont work well when they get involved in the party, just my 2 cents but.

Good luck

Nar you're cool. Accidents happen, and gender doesn't always decide it.

Although my misses has hit our gate post twice in the last 12 months, and her car is smaller than mine. LOL

Sorry to hear about the incident.

Don't let her brother do the work, but someone you trust. It'll just make it all that more difficult if there's an issue with the quality of the repairs.

All the best with it.

P.S Post us some pics. Come on!

Just went and got a quote from a panel shop I know has a good painter. It's going to be a fair amount, the rear skirt is $1500 on its own!

Sucks Russ, hopefully you get it sorted without much fuss, and that you only have to go to the panel shop once.

Take solace in the fact that you didn't cause the damage. Hurts a lot more when it is your fault.

Cheers

PS. Also

Well Shannons are bastards. They want to slug me the $500 excess until they can verify her details, apparently name, rego and phone number aren't enough for them. Hell I was lucky to get that from her, Shannons say go to the Police and make a report so the Police can provide them the details. Spoke to the Police and they confirmed my thoughts, that Shannons is talking BS and that they can get her details through FOI but they just don't want to as it incurs them a $40 fee.

Bastards, specialist insurer my.......... :

Sorry to hear of the mishap. Sorry also to hear about your dealings with Shannons. I'm also insured with them and have had a great experience. A bloke ran into the back of me a couple of months ago, just the usual exchange of details, and I was given the approval via sms by that arvo. Get stuck into them, don't put up with their rubbish. You've got all the details that your supposed to, the rest is up to them.

P.S. I can understand how you don't want to post pics, I couldn't do it either.

Man up and post some pics.

If it makes you feel any better, here is what the back of mine looked like as of a month or so ago.

It's all fixed now by the way.

All my paint is still intact, it's just the rear skirt has a few cracks in it and isn't sitting anywhere near straight plus the bar has a nice crease in it. It was low speed so it isn't too bad, still it is my car and I am pretty protective of it like that.

Didn't anyone else witness it, surely someone would have seen her roll into you, I would have got their details and then as like you are doing go through your insurance but get them to chase her up, that is what they are to do when you provide the details, why on earth do we pay a huge premuim every yr, don't put up with their crap, it is their job to do the chassing not you, all you have to do is make sure your vehicle is fixed accordinly to your standard. But you really should have a 3rd party call upon if need be.
