Hi guys,
Been doing a bit of reading around the forums in regards to shocks and have found myself here. I know the AU is getting on a little bit in age, however there hasn't been a coil-over setup for IRS developed ever since its release by any of the well known brands, and the response always from them is that "there isn't enough demand". Would there be interest from Shockworks to develop a rear set for AU IRS? Or perhaps a one off cost not too prohibitive? The front is the same setup as BA so no issue there, but the rear is where it's quite badly needed. Cheers, Andrew. |

Hi Ride,
We have been thinking about this for a while. If you can supply and old rear damper with the top mount we will start on some drawings and have a sample set made for tuning and development. The top mount in the rear is VERY soft and so would prefer to make a new top mount to give better control for small rod displacements. Cheers Brett |

Take a gander here - http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=11353903 And here - http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=11384818 There's around 10-12 out there with no complaints so far. I've had mine on for at least 20,000k's now and all is good. As the first thread shows, we did have a few minor hic-ups, but they've been sorted. I haven't finalised the adjustable version in the second thread yet, time has been a bit limited lately.

The full AU kit will be $2000 including top mounts, springs and adjustable dampers.
We would like to send the rear top mounts to the team in Korea due to the angle of the mount and will do the damper drawings in Australia. We will return the rear mounts when they finish the design and get it back to you. When you have time email me at brett.obrien@shockworks.com.au to get things started. I will be back in Australia after I finish testing the stock cars and some other teams I am supporting here. Cheers Brett |

We will get onto the AU rear as soon as we can. We have to source the rear mount and damper to measure and will send the mount to the team in Korea as the angle needs to be sorted.
We are in the middle of so many different cars that its has been difficult to get to the AU rear at the moment but we will get to it soon. Cheers Brett |

Hi Brett,
I have spare rear mounts at home that I can send over if you require? I don't have spare springs and shocks though. Cheers, Tim |

Hi Andy,
We still don't have the rears made yet. Under the pump at the moment with race teams and the development for some cars which had been planned for a while so really sorry for the delays for the AU. We have the fronts sorted but the rear top mount has been the issue for us but will get something posted as soon as we have this done mate. Cheers Brett |

Hi Maded,
Sorry for the delay with the response mate. We still haven't finished the rear AU IRS dampers as we have so many programs on the go. I will post something soon and get the AU dampers sorted as soon as we can. We are designing a new top mount for the rear to go with the shock which is taking some time. Cheers Brett |

We have made rear dampers for an AU race car but using spherical bearings at the mounting points. We still need to finish dampers for the standard top mount and we will have them available in the next couple of months. Sorry for the delay with this as we have be so very busy.
Cheers |

I have been watching this thread, as I am interested in a set for my race car, but I have to make sure it stays within the rules for IPRA. |

It was for a customer of Ted Robinson Racing that is building the car up. Similar to our GT40 damper but had the Ford lower fork mount for the lower arm with bearing at the top mount. This is a new car build so I dont think it has been raced before. Cheers Brett |

No stress on my part Brett. It's on my list, but I'm working on installing the new engine at the moment. My guess is I would be looking around June.

Brett, in the interim, can you run the fronts (which are available) with standard type Koni shocks and factory TS springs? Need to replace my front Koni Yellows and don't want to pay for another set/rebuild if I'm going to go coilover anyway.

Bought a set of front coilovers from Brett a couple weeks ago. Fitted them just before a trip to Tassie to break them in, over 2000k's of twisties. Found the sweet spot for good street/twistie cornering at 4 clicks, otherwise leave them on max soft for Sydney's crap roads.
Looking forward to the rears when they come out. |
