Mine was either junior dos santos KOing Velasquez exactly as I predicted or frank Mir breaking minotaro's arm, again as I said he would. I take my UFC pretty seriously for those uninformed.

Probably this.
Rewind about 5-6 months. Out on the town with my girlfriend at the time…Long story short, she brutally dumps in front of all of her friends, no warning (after 2 plus years). Me having a few drinks under my belt, I honestly just walked off, tears streaming down my face in a packed club. Not my finest moment, but I was pretty shattered and emotions got the better of me. When I was walking out, I see my ex….and obviously she see’s that I’m crying. Once again, long story short. She laughs at me and her boyfriend starts laughing as well. I half flip out at them and her boyfriend being some huge football player tries to brawl me in the club. Did I mention about 10m back thatta way my now ex gf and her friends were watching and also having a laugh? Bouncers ended up getting involved by kicking me out for being a nuisance. AND THAT. Is my most memorable moment of 2011.

As an event (bad one) the floods would be my most memorable. I remember standing at Southbank, which was partially underwater and looking across the flooded river at the city, with this eerie siren wailing slowly up and down, with hardly a person in sight. Was so surreal.

Getting flooded in for three weeks after Christmas last year into January this year, but we knew we were going to have a housefull of visitors (only supposed to be over the Christmas weekend, but they were stuck here a lot longer) so luckily we were sitting pretty with two fridges full of food, a freezer full of meat, cupboards full of canned and dry stuff, plenty of ingredients for the bread maker, and rifles in the safe for a "shopping excursion" which some other guys in town were talking about if we started to run low on meat, helicopters dropping off foodstuffs...it was an emergency, but it was memorable.

mine as a very sad but also turned out to be a good weekend.
14th of October the weekend of the b-series Nats was up real early leaving Canberra at 630am to meet the Sydney crew at lithgow well out of my way but a fantastic drive so wasnt worried. Had just met up with everyone and was leaving as my phone rings. It was my dad and the first thing he said was i think you should come back to Canberra, then begins to tell me why got half way through the sentence "its pop, he" and my phone cuts out. I spend the next 5 minutes trying to get back onto him while fearing the worst. Finally get through to be told me my worst fear my pop went in his sleep lastnite. From there i threw back a few gears and smashed to bathurst (in about half the time it took me last time i drove it) through to cowra and back to Canberra. Spent some time with my family when about 5pm i got this thought. What would pop prefer i did? Sit at home or go back to parkes and i honestly thought he would prefer me to not sit around and fell sorry for what happened. So me and the gf jump back into the car call the hotel, and meg saying were on our way. Only to arrive shattered and exhausted 14 hours and 1000 km's later. Only to meet some fantastic people and have a good weekend, even get away with a trophy. A weekend. All this only 2 days after the 5th anniversary of my grandfathers passing. Na obes has become a very Important month to me

I like your sense of humour! Is it just me or is it refreshing to read through this and see everyone pondering back on something great (Usually). It put a smile on my face and was definatly a nice seachange from so many posts on here in recent months. For me, Even though I get married in less then 4 weeks, its still considered 2012. So taking that out of the occation, I guess the excitment and growth of me and my partner in the build up of this day. If I had to narrow it down to a specific event, I guess it was the 1st time I went to her parent's house and I was packing ******, only to have her father look at me up and down once, look in my eyes and smile. At that point I felt that this will be a good transition and the beginning of my new extended family.

Good thread Dazz.
For me, several highlights in the year. - Yep, the way that the people of Brisbane, and on this forum banded together when disaster struck Brisbane in January. I have never seen anything like it before and I don't ever want to see (or smell) that again. - Not exactly a highlight, but memorable all the same. Burying my mother back in June. Truely gut renching stuff, and I still miss her every day. RIP Mum. |
