should never have interfered with it in the first place. these do gooders break there own rules. let nature run its course. who knows what would of happened if they did not coax the whale out to sea? maybe they may have scared the mother off in doing just that. who knows. dont euthanese him, who knows his mum may come back or not. just let nature run its course.while its sad but it may also be good. interfering ain helping.
get the do gooders onto the other story of the the sharkfin delicacy. it was on pretty much straight after 10000 sharks killed for there fins. what a waste. Last edited by reece1; 20-08-2008 at 08:17 PM. Reason: extra |

A couple of colleagues of mine - recently moved here from Norway, heard about this today, they can't believe all the fuss. Where they come from, young Colin would not go to waste........
I personally find it sad, and even upsetting, but the reality is, this scenario gets played out at sea countless times every year. Orcas eat them, mothers abondon them, yachts hit them, ships chop them up. But it's happening in Suburbia and every bleeding heart with good intentions wants to save a precious life. Meanwhile, another 10,000 people will die of starvation or disease, but I bet more Australians lose their chee over a baby whale. That's even more sad than Colin's fate.

Leave it be, it will either find its mother/vice versa or it will feed the local population of sealife. Thats what it would be doin if it were another 20k's off the coast so why interupt. Nat Geo has a rule for its reporters/photographers. DONT INTERUPT with the natural way of things. Maybe they should take a leaf..

Euthanise the poor thing, death by starvation is cruel.
It's poor mother won't be back. The animal kingdom is wise. Chances are there is something wrong with this calf and the mother intentionally abandoned it. It's been documented that under normal circumstances a mother will not leave a healthy calf sometimes at the cost of her own life. |

We should let nature take its course - shut down all hospitals, fire all doctors, heck mate vetranarians illegal too, dont need those either...why are we letting all these inferior genetic people and animals breed?
Its not so cut and dry. Edit - I am not saying either side is right here, I can see both points of view, but the ethics of the situation are not simple.
