Default Focus wrecker - Adelaide

anyone know where i can get 2nd hand parts in adelaide? i need a fuel cap, and a brake caliper, and would prefer not to have to buy new for obvious reasons.

also, anyone had to get a driveshaft done and whats the approximate cost?

cheers
Rob

Having a bit of trouble with the Focus?

I know these guys do driveshafts for the Focus, might as well give them a call: http://www.driveshaftcv.com.au/

They're in Radelaide too

Check the Ford retail first for everything is all I can say. Athol Park normally have everything, but they charge very high prices and some things are priced very reasonably from Ford.

A caliper may be expensive from Ford new, but it may be worth getting a second hand one rebuilt before fitting which I'd factor in.

Also, a new fuel cap should be readily available from SCA, Autobarn, Sprint etc. They are generally made by CPC or Tridon, who made them for Ford originally anyway for the Aussie cars at least.

Have a look on here, will give an idea whether its available and a part number. Covers a fair amount of parts, just enter the make, model and year.

Then go to Sprint Auto Parts, they will no doubt be cheaper-and actually carry parts, instead of neons, gauges and seat covers.

Good luck!

mother in laws focus needs a couple of things. rear drivers brake caliper, the rubber boot around the piston is split, so needs another caliper.

driveshaft is spewing grease everywhere on passenger side. boots look good so i'm guessing the caryard just replaced the boots at some stage to pass a roadie or something. still grease everywhere and it makes a slight groan at carpark speeds. nothing major yet but may as well nip it in the bud early. ford have quoted me $313 fitted for driveshaft, which isn't too bad. fuel cap is $66. might chase a wrecker for that one. the wife's focus needs one too.

You can usually buy the rubber seal kits for brake calipers from auto parts stores or brake specialists much cheaper than an entire caliper

New fuel cap available here at a fraction of the dealers price - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/FORD-MOND...item519a103aaf

Brake caliper kits (you may need to confirm the model with them) - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Ford-Focu...item3efc48997e (try Supercheap etc... first and check their pricing)

Driveshafts are also available on eBay - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Ford-5-05...item588eac32fc

As long as it's a legitimate business and has good feedback there's normally not much to worry about. There are some big savings to be made on imports at the moment with the Aussie $ being so strong against the other currencies. I don't want to jinx myself either but I have purchased quite a few things from O/S over the last little while and have had no issues with anything so far. This includes some accessory items for my Focus as well as clothing etc... As long as you do your homework and ask the right questions before buying everything should work out fine

thanks russ, definitely seems to be some great savings. just something i'm yet to really look into. i did buy a pc game from a uk company a while back and apart from taking over a month to get here, it all worked out ok.

picked up a fuel cap today from a wrecker (christies auto wreckers i think its called, for those playing at home) for $10, so happy with that. quoted me $65 for a caliper (3 month warranty) so i'll see how much a kit costs but i really can't be bothered stuffing around too much.

No worries mate, just make sure you keep an eye on the used caliper if you go that way, I had an issue with one from a wreckers a few years back where it ceased after a short period of use. This wasn't a big deal in that I was refunded on it, but it was a pain in the butt having to do the job over again.
