So finally a ban on incoming South Koreans. Still no ban on Italian arrivals. Instead, Italians will be questioned and go through an "enhanced screening" process??

No doubt the Melbourne F1 GP had something to do with this decision. If arrivals from Italy had to be quarantined for a period, then the F1 GP would most likely be cancelled, leading to a Ma$$ive loss for the state.

Last month there were reports on Chinese social media that family pets could carry the virus.

So how did the Chinese dispatch their family pets? Buy throwing them off the unit balcony of course.

Now it seems that a pet dog in HK has corona virus as well.

Now the streets will be littered with dead cats and dogs.

Well, on the bright side China's air has never been cleaner....

"The Chinese": so every Chinese family did this or is this just a sweeping generalisation?

Maybe think just a little before posting a racist claim like that

The HK dog that was infected seems to be an anomaly:

Doesn't matter - once 'Chinese' whispers gets hold of it then the rate of pet disposal will skyrocket..

I just can't fathom what some is thinking when they decide the best way to remove a family pet from a home is to simply walk to the balcony of your apartment and throw it to its death like a used tissue.

Seems the lucky ones were simply abandoned...

It would be nice is everyone stopped supporting them but the first thing out of every Australian's mouth is price when they're buying something.

We all want high wages but don't want to pay anything to anyone else, me, me, me, me, me, me!

Well, local manufacturing is going gangbusters since the demise of China's output.

A lot will be learnt from this incident - globally.

Only problem is, once they get back on their feet the government will probably subsidise manufacturing to totally undercut anyone else in the hope of clawing back the business.

So you extrapolated the above reports to suggest all Chinese?
Would you do the same if there were reports of a few Aussies doing it or does it just suit your own beliefs so therefore it's ok?

Never said All Chinese. If you look at one of my lengthy previous posts I even say that not all Chinese do these things or behave in these manners and I feel sorry for the good ones being brought down by the rotten eggs amongst them.

Having said that, there is a recurring theme with the above articles...

A dog act is a dog act, I don't care what nationality does it. And if an Aussie did a dog act I would call them out, like most other Aussies would.

Racism is bad, yes.

Stating that Chinese people are throwing their pets to their death is not racism, it's stating a fact.

It's quite unfortunate that many of these sweeping generalisations are very much true. Again, that's not being racist, it's stating a reality some don't like to hear or see.

What is happening to pets is online via the internet/social media - but WARNING these are very disturbing videos - the images you see, cannot be erased from your mind.

Otherwise, just accept that this is what's happening.

Likely human-to-animal transmission. Hong Kong woman’s pet dog has a ‘low-level’ coronavirus infection. Hong Kong authorities have confirmed a coronavirus patient’s pet dog has a “low-level infection” saying it is “likely to be a case of human-to-animal transmission”

Seems to me that this thread (if it survives the current 'racism' row, which is even further off topic) has strayed from the original topic and should be merged with the related thread in The Bar, as it no longer has anything to do with cars.

Perhaps once the panic buying spreads its tentacles to the panic purchase of petrol, it would be back on topic?

I've got the XR8 and the Sea Doo for storage of petrol. And the FGII ute and RTV for lpg. Not heaps, but should see me through for a while

Not an issue, during a lockdown no one will be driving.

BTW, yesterday Lufthansa announced the reduction equivalent of 150 planes from their 750 daily plane services.

And in response to the weakness of global oil demand - OPEC is reducing oil production to try and maintain prices.

It's the classic play of the 'race card' to try shut down discussion that you don't agree with.

I'm calling BS on what Pappa Festiva mentioned being classified as 'racist' and it's typical from virtue signallers who have never been exposed to actual racism to try shut down inconvenient points.

Actual racism robs people of opportunity and costs lives, people who have experienced real racism are the victims of WWII and more recently a great example of racism is the breakup of Yugoslavia which is now known as Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia, North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Kosovo. A war fought on national and ethnic identity, that's real racism.

All he's done is pointed out is multiple examples of Chinese people showing cruelty to their pets, absolutely abhorrent behavior.

You're entitled to your opinion, but not your own facts.
