Trademarked Lightning, Tremor, Lariat and a bunch of other F150 spec levels in australia.

https://fordauthority.com/2022/05/fo...-in-australia/

Don't know why they would do that to a vehicle that has been cancelled though

To be frank, the cost for taking out a Trademark is miniscule to a company like Ford so even registering the trademark to sit on the name with no intention of selling locally wouldn't even be a consideration.

Now if we suddenly learnt dealer staff were about to get training in servicing Lightnings...

That’s right. We’ll be getting short wheelbase with a 5.5 foot bed and a long wheelbase with a 6.5 foot bed.
I think it’s a brilliant move as some customers in our market may be put off by the overall length of the lwb. I’m pretty sure it wouldn’t fit in my garage. Having the swb option is great.

If it goes well, and I don’t see why it won’t, I expect them to bring the V8 which is actually a few hundred dollars cheaper in the USA.

Was wondering the same thing but figured the colouring of the bars indicated a low score was bad.

Can I just say tho, that technically that graph doesn't show quality. It shows reliability. Whilst poor quality will impact upon reliability, it is not the only factor. In fact, it is most likely not even the primary factor.

Ive done 15,000 km's in my Ram now and I must say its the best dual cab ute I have ever owned (and yes the dearest). The comfort and power is second to none. Also interesting to note I haven't reset the second trip computer since new and overall its averaged 12 per hundred over the 15,000 km's which is exceptional for what it is. My previous PX2 Wildtrak 3.2 averaged late 10's over its life (with bigger tyres).

I put my name down for an F150 but unless its mind-blowing i don't think ill take it, I cannot see the V6 being as economical as the Etorque hemi.

The hybrid should keep the RAM ahead of the F150 on fuel with the joy of listening to that V8 when you want. It's a win win.

I'm waiting for all the comments telling you how it's too big for Australian roads, that you can't park it anywhere and how no one here wants American utes because they sell thousands of diesel hiluxes a month

I’m in regional Vic and RAM’s are everywhere. Anyone saying you don’t need one or they won’t sell is as misguided as the fools who believe we’ll only be able buy electric cars by 2030.
This is a growing market, just like EV’s.

True, the very reason Ford is investing in F150 post factory conversions is thanks to Ram’s sales success.

Yeah it makes all of 92KW when it was new and last tank did 11.5L/100km.

So the RAM1500 is pretty impressive

I definitely wouldn't buy one.

Don't know anyone who would drive one as a daily and even then most haven't got the money to buy one let alone run one.

Yeah, yeah..I know it's a Ford forum.

Hackney and the other rednecks will be along any minute no doubt....

Plenty of people actually work for a living and have no issues with running costs for several vehicles. Try it some time.

With respect automotive manufacturers couldn’t give a crap about all the people who won’t buy something,
Ford is a small fraction of Australia’s annual car sales, their choice has been to seek out high $$$ sales and
F150 looks to be a toe in the water, one that could open the door to other premium products that many of
us can’t afford…….I’m with that btw.

Who would buy these things.....

Just finished talking to a great guy (Kenworth owner) who showed up in a beaut new F350, been up in the mountains over Christmas and very impressed with it. Stunning up close. I drive back into Wang and spotted 3 others all 150's
then this big un pulls in the APCO.

Yeah these things don't sell.

I was all in on a Platinum F150 with Harrisons. (deposit paid) Until i discovered the Limited Ram 1500. Comparisons of extras for the same money, Ram wins all day long. front sensors, reclining rear seats, heated and cooled rear seats, Adjustable Air Bag Suspension, just a few items Ford F150 did not have in the same premium range and price. It may change for 2023 2024.

Over here in Canada Dodge were real smart with the RAM brand a few years ago. Throwing in heaps of tech for the same price as the mid spec F-150s and Chev/GMC trucks. RAM has over taken GMC for 2nd place and is nipping at Fords heals for the No.1 spot. Ford has been number 1 for far to long to care about the competition until now.

The young fella heard from mates around town that Ford will reopen a bit of the old Geelong factory to make/convert the F150s?

Any truth to that?

Its being done by a company called RMA, I doubt that they would be using Ford's facilities, they're a 'second stage manufacturer' ala HSV/Walkinshaw, VDC, Performax, Bell Environmental et al.
