Sure it will never have the rumble of the GT.... But why is it no one ever complains about the lack of rumble when buying a Porsche 911 ? Acceleration from 0 - 100 km/h, 4.1 s. Top speed, 308 km/h, 306 km/h. |

All that FWD nonsense was quickly forgotten as soon as Ford got wind (2007) that Chevrolet
was bringing back a 5th Gen Zeta Camaro for 2010. S197 arrived in 2005 and went all the way through to 2014, the last few years were painful against Zeta Camaro but well worth it for the S550 Mustang. Last edited by jpd80; 08-05-2018 at 01:05 PM. |

Even with right gaskets, you can still crack blocks and lift head gaskets when raising the boost too high with standard Exhaust housing. Change the housing for a bigger one and the problem disappears... |

They were originally, until Ford continually blew them up during testing(RS). It was so bad it put the program in jeopardy. Ford went to cosworth for help.

...i find it funny that after 50 years (ie, its whole life) of the mustang being available in non-V8 configurations...people still whinge/snicker about the non-v8 options.

Didn't it start as a straight 6 only?

No, there was always a V8 version along with I-6, then V6 and there was a 2.3 turbo years ago (SVT?)
the lower versions are the affordable vehicles that add volume. In the US, around 60% are Ecoboost. Last edited by jpd80; 08-05-2018 at 03:50 PM. |

the bigger exhaust housing was put on the turbo to reduce back pressure at higher boost I mentioned earlier. Both engines still have similar issues when you start upping the boost, the gaskets fail in similar position on cylinders 2 and 3. |

There were 4cyl stangs between 1974-94 (in fact, 1974 mustang had no V8 option...and remains one if the best sellers)

It is a bit odd. But with it only ever selling here a couple of times in the past a lot of australians probably believe it was only ever a v8. I’m sure the yanks don’t have the same thoughts cause its always been available with either a 4, 6 or 8.

In '73 the OPEC producers placed an embargo on oil exports. The shortage that followed resulted in basically, tripling the price of oil "virtually overnight" and caught the American completely off guard. |

The original 1964.5 Mustang had a 260V8 as the baby 8 whacker on offer.

Asked the sales manager about the $15990 DA special on barina as advertised. “Oh, that is for ‘17 build, we can’t get any” “But you’re advertising them” “No, only got ‘18s, they are over $17k” Fair dinkum, they simply CBF, even their eventual appraisal amount was rubbish.

Thanks for the last post on topic. I was afraid the non-V8 Mustang talk had taken taken over the thread on the demise of Holden.....

Probably similar to how the Toyota 86 and Mazda MX5 are viewed by performance enthusiasts. Both well balanced, well handling cars but lose respect points due to straight line performance. |

I had half an hour of nothing to do yesterday, so I went to the local Holden dealer to look at an Opeldore. The last time was about two years ago to buy a Trax, which I decided not to buy. The front yard is usually full of all models and sizes, but it was full of about 20 ‘dores, all locked, so I could only wander around, no sit and play. I was the only looker, and no salesperson approached me. I went inside and the only person there was a receptionist on phone duties who ignored me as she was busy doing phone duties. No-one else in sight, my curiosity somewhat deflated, I left. A big turnaround from when a prospective buyer would be inundated. Had they all been sacked, or resigned, or attending a staff conference on how to drum up sales, or asleep in a back office due to boredom. Strange. It was only two weeks ago a family member bought a Toyota Corolla. Holden were not even considered., |

All I can say on any Holden-HAGGLE HARD, I did better than the advertised as it was a demo,5 yr warranty, not the best car in class, but for the elderly female it was intended for, fit for purpose.
